The Blade Is...Muramasa

I see the Ghirahim reference. Muramasa kinda reminds me more of Ulquiorra with the design and tears from eyes.

My reasoning is the old man came out because he wasn’t ready for Ichigo to know the truth yet. Also since he and White both exist in Ichigos Zanpakuto space, perhaps Muramasa couldn’t distinguish between which one comes out, so Old man took the fall.

2026-09-10 15:00 While it would have been a good hint, a cool detail is things aren't completely inconsistent either. Even when "Old Man Zengetsu" spirit is out; Ichigo is shown being able to perform getsuga tensho, and his blade is still in shikai. Another cool detail is how Zengetsu's getsuga tensho are portrayed as a blue white here, while Ichigo's are black and red.

Yeah, either that or Muramasa was just genuinely mistaken because how unconventional Ichigo's spirits are.

Filler using a form only seen in the Canon once. Classic filler move

Even though this was made in a time when we didn’t know stuff from TYBW, the unintentional foreshadowing is crazy. Entire sequence was so cool to see with Zangetsu. Zanpakto is one of the best concepts in anime or even fiction so an entire filler arc based on them is so interesting
