Surprise post!

Destiny finished the art and lettering for Harlequin’s comic a while ago, but I only had time to review everything a few days ago. I’m sorry, everyone x.x

Destinysquared was kind enough to lettering it in both English and Portuguese for us! Please be careful not to leak or discuss anything from it until the comic is officially made public.

I loved getting to see more of the softer side of Quim, because he is such a lovely person underneath everything, and giving him something small and frail to care for really shows that side of him perfectly. oh wow ow! ow! ow!! you both did an absolutely AMAZING job, my god--the art is absolutely gorgeous and the story and writing is as well--but ow! there's so much heart in this (even if some of it is broken lol). i love how obvious it is that harlequin cares deeply for her, that pierrot tries to keep harley from seeing, that harlequin echoes jester's own words back at him but can't do it without his voice trembling until he finally is able to put a mask back up... mass murderers confirmed but there's also something very sweet about them being willing to torch their plans and food schedule and set everything on fire (on fire! of all things! and it's JESTER!) in order to avenge and protect their own. it's also very interesting to see that hint of them being sexualized by people...no wonder jester has such disdain for it coming up in the amas (justified, of course). also! two doctor nicknames! anyway absolutely beautiful work, thank you so much to both of you!

Wow, surprise update. (and I wasn't leaving comments in a while but who cares...) It's nice to see another confirmation that even if ierrot and Harlequin are on bad terms, they still care about each other in some way. And yeah, poor Harlequin... but another comment here made me think. Jester ad Pierrot killed everyone in the village and burned it. All because of the pet. I assume that Jester might see those people as rotten because they didn't even target the member of troupe, they targeted the weakest link aka animal, but still. And Jester said something about humans being the only one who hunt for revenge and so in one of AMAs... while he did all of this out of revenge too. What a hypocrite, damn.

I've had pets before. I have studied to become a vet tech. I've interned at zoo's, pet stores, cat shelters, dog daycares, farms, you name it. It's not that I don't care about animals, it's that you cannot be placing the lives of pets above humans. Period. The troupe obviously doesn't care about humans, and I have no issue with their lack of morals, that's part of their character. But it irks me that there are so many misanthropic comments that praise their actions as if it was justified or good.

It's your pov if you see animals's lives as less worthy than a human but let's just be understanding of each others (you will get bad answers because animals care are raising and they're not just seen as tools or unworthy anymore). I thought about the innocents but it's still fiction and i think anyone would have reacted the same if it was our parents or siblings who were put down instead of a pet. Pets are a part of our famillies too especially in some cultures but i understand you too! 🫂🫂🫂

This really puts into perspective just how much more "human" these "monsters" are. They still have feelings, they still carry sympathy, they can have attachment. On the flip side, they do consume humans, they are willing to burn an entire town down, and have no obvious regrets in doing so. To be fair, some humans were willing to and have done the same as the "monsters." So, at the end of the day, theres some nuance that I think really fleshes out these characters and the story.

I've seen that sentiment irl, of people caring more about the deaths of pets than that of their owners more times than I care to count. I just dislike misanthropic comments in general. I don't find it particularly cute nor funny, but I understand that I am in the minority since I tend to view things through a more critical lens and have a more personal history with this particular subject compared to the average pet owner.

Irl horrible and not at all the right thing to do. Yes a whole village of humans for one iguana not justified. In fiction, since no one is actually hurt we let ourselves get into it and support the burning of the entire town. We feel the hurt and want the characters to let the rage out and get revenge. Many of not all the responses you see are talking about in the fictional world. Not if this scenario happened irl

OH, didn't expect to see this comic this month. I love it. I had to re-read this a few times because I didn't want to miss any details 👀 Really love the work you guys put in it. The cover art is really beautiful. I loved seeing another side of Harlequin. He's so cute. So Harlequin found the iguana when it was still a hatchling. Maybe he took it in his care because it reminded him of himself when he was younger since he was also separated from his parents at a young age. It's also interesting to see that Harlequin may not be a responsible pet owner, not always keeping an eye on it, mirroring how his parents didn't really know how to be parents either. He definitely did let the iguana loose to mess with the others for fun sometimes lmao. Annoying Pierrot is an absolute must for this menace HAHAH I noticed that Pierrot's hair is shorter than in the first comic. I'm guessing this takes place before the first comic where he got his hair ripped out since he insists on growing his hair long and refuses to cut it. Harlequin's hair is also longer in this comic. I really feel bad for Harlequin. It's no wonder he's so emotionally distant. I wonder if Pierrot was holding the iguana's remains in the last panel? There was also a chest in both Pierrot and Harlequin's tents. Maybe that is where they keep important belongings 👀 I'm gonna go cry now ;-; Thanks for the food 🙏

The story went the way how I thought it would when Destiny first mentioned it BUT so many character snippets like Pierrot talking, caring for Harlequin, Jester caring for his family and... the slaughter of all village. Kinda shows what they are ready to do for each other. Oh yeah, it is a horror have we forgotten? P.s. trying not to think that they have killed even children in that village...

Thank you so much for uploading such a wonderful comic book. I've also come to understand the reason why these rules in the circus were established... The heart on Harlequin's cloak was changed, and they realized that they had been hurt once again by the ugly humans... I was so sad the whole time I watched it. Harley Quinn had someone she was so attached to and someone she cared for and loved more than anyone else, but seeing her suffer like this breaks my heart... Piero also tried to make sure Harley Quinn, being family, wouldn't hurt her in any way possible... I hope they become happy in the future. Sincerely.

I remember from my time in college a fellow student ask the teacher in social studies/ philosophy, we were talking about implications of freedom, when somebody hurts a thing/ or in this case an animal of someone; “what about hurting something that is not directly a person is that deemed as freedom?” Our teacher answered “the intention”, is a message, that thing or pet hurten ( in harls case) is a direct extension of him, feelings and as a person. “What I did to that I will do it to you and those around you”; the circus. Is not about just hurting a weak animal or an object. If Jester is willing to do everything it takes to protect the circus, then that is on the table, yes. maybe he didn’t care about the pet herself but he cares about harls.

You did such an incredible job! Took me right back to when my Leopard gecko was diagnosed with follicular stasis. She had to go under for surgery and there was a huge chance she wouldve died (reptiles dont do well on anesthesia). Thankfully everything went perfectly and shes doing better than ever! Reptiles are so misunderstood and abused, it breaks my heart because they’re so sweet. Sorry for the long yap but this comic was particularly personal to me and i had to say something haha. Valid crashout. Anyone who harms defenseless animals as a threat or revenge against a person doesn't deserve mercy. Also it's really sweet that Pierrot, despite hating Harlequin, still tried to prevent Harlequin from seeing what happened. Like, he will stab Harlequin and beat him near to death, but he's not an evil bastard delighting in any loss Harlequin gets. It's also interesting because Harlequin seems like he wants to crush Pierrot psychologically (see: the bedroom scene and his proposal to work together with MC to break Pierrot).

The comic is full of details about their lives, their nicknames for each other, and what it's like inside Harlequin's tent. Everything is so vivid. I especially love how Jester, at the end, disregards everything and demands that humanity pay the price. Harlequin took care of her since birth…So she wasn’t afraid of the troupe like other animals. Cute cute cute. I love Harlequin’s smile in the bottom right of the first page, it’s filled with such joy. According to what I looked up…Iguanas grow fast. She still didn’t look to be fully grown…maybe 2 – 3 years max, he had her around for. And he loved her dearly, he carried her around even when working. He didn’t even get to have her for the full length of her short life (15-20 years). Pet reflects owner, she goes around causing trouble like him, haha. Quim’s only really sheepish about the trouble she causes the Doctor. I can see this incident triggering Harlequin to be obsessive with presence, he needs to be there and have whatever he likes stick by his side. Look away a second and someone will snatch away and destroy what you hold dear. I wonder if the seeming lack of name was so he wouldn’t get attached? Or rather convince himself and/or Jester he’s not. I think Harlequin would have eventually though… Humans in red, the scent of blood in red, the red bloody tears of a shadow, all ending in a festival of red Pierrot is covered in and the fire the troupe is warmed by. Pierrot has a great sense of smell it seems, far better than the rest of the Circus. He was worried about the rain coming and washing the scent away…Ah, they may not have killed anyone in this particular town, but Doc’s still messing around with a body…With Pierrot and Harlequin not really giving a damn, no surprise there but nice reminder Pierrot is indifferent to human lives. Pierrot’s first instinct in protecting his loved ones is always to hide the evidence and lie, huh? I’m sure if he succeeded he would have told Harlequin that his pet wandered off, let’s move on. Hell, he even looks like he wants to grab Harlequin and hold him back so he doesn’t see. Pierrot’s arms are raised like they are. The crying shadow really competes with Harlequin’s first page smile for my favorite imagery. Harlequin took the knife that held the threatening note. Or at least I don’t see him return it. Is this part of where his “hobby” of collecting them came from? Seeing Harlequin try and justify the pain as being no big deal is devasting…Perhaps I’m giving too much credit to Jester here, but I honestly think before he spoke to Harlequin, Jester was only going to go after the perpetrators. He asked for Pierrot’s help prior that. Since we now know Pierrot has a superior sense of smell, he probably COULD have found the killers and only eliminated them specifically.
