Well, madness is the only word i could think of when I finally clicked on the render button for the last scene of We Got a BIG Problem, and this image would definitely best describe what I'm talking about!

This last scene alone took up 700 gigs of space, and I literally can not wait to see how it turns out!!

I'm not too sure whether it is going to finish rendering tomorrow night, so if not, I might post a quick transition update for The Game of Expansion, and make the big release on Tuesday!

Meanwhile, I hope you enjoy this little teaser of our Cassie, with hair of course!

The excite builds! Much like the heat in your processor while rendering this

FaTerGD

The processor alone is going to keep me warm tonight

Sam Droogan

Noting like that processor glow

Perhaps it's time to go with a more distributed setup. Build another PC with a similar setup and render between them. Pretty sure software exists to help with that.

FaTerGD

That's exactly what I'm doing at the moment!! I bought a new set up during this move (the old setup's going through some hardware issues), wouldn't be able to pump out renders without them! 😂 Although this thing's eating up RAM like crazy, the new computer's 128gig just manage to fit the scene in, probably won't get to do anything this large anytime soon 😂

Max

great work but the lack of content over the last month a bit dissapointing miss the weekly comics =/

M8TS

700!? Holy SHIT.

FaTerGD

Apologies for that, the move did mess up the routine, but slowly coming back now and we will have some comic update soon!

FaTerGD

I know right!? The whole project's easily over 2 TB now!

M8TS

That's honestly just an insane amount of data. Especially since I usually see stuff like an ENTIRE GAME at 125 gigs and am like "damn that's a lot" And this is just an animation thats that huge. Thats so wild to me. Also, just realized about the hair, woooo.

FaTerGD

Yeah, I opted to use disk storage rather than RAM when I noticed a single frame of simulation for one building is about 20 MB, and the scene has like 2000 frames and a total of 10 buildings to blow up at different timeframe 😂 The amount of debris is probably an overkill tbh, but I figured that's what it will be when the building's pushed up by someone this massive from below!

M8TS

Well yeah, if tanks have taught me anything. It's hard to defend from attacks above and below lol. So makes sense to me for destruction lol

sigsegv

What do you use for the rendering pipeline?

FaTerGD

DAZ for characters, Blender for animation and simulations and renders, then into Davinci Resolve for sound and colorgrading!

sigsegv

Ah that's wild--have you played with any of the video/editing features in Blender by chance?
