I think I can guess where the hiding spot might be. Some missing text at Panel 3: "Wide panel. Alberta is putting on her pants, pushing Herman down so he fits into one of the legs. At right, Thane is putting on" And that's where it suddenly stops, so we never discover what he's putting on.
