I am the kind of big emotional baby that tears up easily when watching shows, yet still I don’t think I can remember the last thing that made me cry as hard as this episode did when it first released. Such incredibly moving storytelling

This episode made me cry so much when I first watched it. From what I got from context clues is that the mother borrowed money from some shady people to pay for the dress. When she didn't pay on time the loansharks went to her house. When they discovered nothing of value they took the child and some leftover cash.

So for clarification: she was alive when she was dancing. She was on a roof of a building. And she danced and jumped off the building after getting her child taken. That's why you hear a thud at 16:11 😢

Yep, this is the exact moment reading the manga when everybody goes "Oh shit, we've really got something special here." A note just because it's a lot to take in, and they went a bit more abstract and artful in the anime version: Silky doesn't die in the street as the car drives away. The whole dance scene after is literally happening, and it culminates with her jumping off the roof, as you can see the city skyline as she falls and hear a thud before the cut to black.

This is one of the reasons I love anime,because it can get this raw emotion out of me from just a small 20 min episode. not many media ever gets this kind of reaction out of me.

I wanted to say that Sora is not ready for this episode under the last reaction but I didn't want to spoil anything this way. I'm kinda glad I kept my mouth shut! This anime is the craziest mix of turbo action packed sequences and great slice of life, comedy and romance and also it can defintely squeeze your heart at other times..

I'm happy you didn't get spoiled because this is the episode that caught everyone off guard when this anime was airing. Definity one of the best episodes of anime in recent years. I still cry watching this episode and I'm not even sure how many times I have rewatched it now. Amazing work of art, amazing it can make you feel such emotion in 20 minutes for characters you haven't even had a prior emotional connection to.

This episode was sad like a lot and get this they didn't do this in the anime but in the manga her real daughter die cause of those men's who took her didn't pay them so they took her daughter sold her for the black market so now both her and her daughter are together which is sad to think about
