Next week, Season 2 of Post Games begins! This week, for Patreon supporters, we have a sort of transition episode (available a little earlier than usual).

Free subscribers will be getting access to Past Games: The History of Zelda (1986). The bonus episode has afforded me time to catch up on the busywork of running a publication. Errands. Interview booking. Calendar adjusting. You get the gist.

I always want supporters to get something new each week, so I've also recorded a mini-episode reflecting on my recent trip to NYC for my talk at NYU Game Center. The visit felt like being visited by the ghosts of gaming past, present, and future. Except these ghosts showed me wonderful things rather than shaming me for a life of curmudgeonly miserdom.

To wrap things up, I share an update on upcoming episodes. Post Games Season 2 will be incredible. I'll see y'all next week!

Rip Marcell Duchamp - you would have loved Disco Elysium, as you would have Powerwash Simulator. Chris - what you talk about with the game developer dinners is what keeps me coming back to creative practices - the feeling that only comes with making beautiful things with good people. You compare it to a writers' room where everyone likes each other - which feels exactly right - it's how the writers of parks and recreation talk about making that show. Parks and recreation after all, is a show about doing work worth doing with people you love, and that's why that show means so much to me. I hope that the games journalists of today and tomorrow can feel the same about their work. Cheers 🫡

Omg I am SO stoked for the anyaustin episode. The way he views games seems perfect for this show.

Chris I've been thinking about your talk all week, especially the parasocial nature of the work you do and how draining that must be. I'm glad your NYC trip filled you up.

I by no means want to add work or complication to these smaller episodes, but because this one was commentary based, regarding a trip, I have a request for the next time you have another event such as this… Would you consider taking pictures of your travel and interactions with people and present it as a slideshow of sorts, while speaking? I know, previously, you asked your audience how important video is to your ‘content’ and I agree with most that it is not necessary. However, in this special case, photos would have added to the auditory ambiance.
