I'm thinking...I may consider adding skin color options OR hair to the model.

Technically, I could also do skincolor options with a FIXED eyecolor and hair color. (So I'd add brown hair and brown eyes that can't be changed but the skincolor CAN)

But I'm not sure if that would be as immersive, because then they would have a fixed look...Something I wanted to avoid.

However, it's more realistic than just a Y/N GREY MODEL 😭😭😭

Please understand, doing this alone is going to add more work for me. I really wish I could do a full customizable MC but it's simply too much work! Too many cg renders and too much time to perfect.

I'm not sure which to pick. Tbh the Grey model concept is fine. Maybe just the color of it can be changed. So as to make it less "akward" I guess but regarding hair I'm not so sure cause as an African I'd lowkey want my kind of hair lol but honestly it doesn't matter much, whatever doesn't stress you gets a thumbs up from me

I honestly don't mind the grey MC bc tbh the only one I'm looking at is Jayce himself xD MC being grey helps me focus on Jayce only xD though I understand that adding skin color can help ppl with self-inserting :3

Okay so personally, I don’t mind the MC staying grey skinned cuz that’s basically how many MC are in story or game, but maybe adding some hair to make her more cute would be awesome, it would feel more immersive ! But yeah, idc about her skin color tbh, grey is really fine for me and I can easily imagine myself in it. But if it’s really too much work, you don’t have to feel obliged to do it !! It really is fine just like it is rn too 😊

Personally I think how it is now is probably best as it allows everyone from every visual appearance to insert themselves onto the model. I know because that is how it is in so many vns I had no issue with inserting myself and wasnt thrown off by the model

I love the grey bald model because it makes it easier for anyone to self insert no matter the skin color or hair texture. Plus, implementing all the details would take so much time and might take away from getting more story sooner.

I didn't realise how complicated customisation would be until I read some of your comments on twitter & Reddit explaining it. So I think with your explanation, most people would understand what you choose, even if it's to not to have any customisation. This is an indie game being made by one person after all. Ultimately you should do what you're comfortable with, don't take on more work than you feel is feasible & choose what you want no matter the poll outcome. But answering the post: My 2nd choice would be skin tone options but no hair, but I voted for skin colour options but a fixed eye colour & hair colour. I don't mind if there's a semi-fixed look (after all most VNs have a set MC), I'd find it more immersive than the grey y/n model (although I'd still enjoy the game with our grey alien MC if it's kept too lol). You could do something like setting MC customisation (one of the options in this poll) as a patreon monthly goal to meet, so that you feel it justifies the extra ongoing work? Or if you're open to doing render commissions, then they could be added as a Kofi/Patreon tier or to Patreon shop, then people could commission you if they want their own fully customised MC (even if it can't go in-game). I'm not sure how long it takes to make a character (like if this is a realistic idea) or if you'd enjoy making extra characters though.

I don't mind as long as I get the option for a bald, grey model. none of the presets match me at all.

I guess another customization option you can add without having to render new images, is allowing the player to choose their pronouns. It would still work with the grey model and maybe a little more doable if your tight on time.

Tbh the grey skin is fine, but the no hair threw me off when I was first getting intro’d to how the game reads. Given the amount of work, I appreciate you even giving the option! Happy to go with whatever works best for you, I’m strapped in for the writing alone - it’s amazing!!

I have to say that I kinda liked the grey model since I'm a gay guy and I liked the idea of thinking of my MC as a non-binary (even if that was not the point with the grey model). But to be honest the new model looks much much better and it makes total sense with the story that she is a hot girl, so I voted for the most complete model because Jayce deserves a hot MC, just please don't drop the idea that Jayce will love you no matter how you look, cause that's true devotion and hot as fuck.

To sum up my opinion: Do what is best for you at this moment, the gray character in my opinion did not change the fact that the game is wonderful. I really like the idea of her being like this, gray and more like a "white canvas". Just as said in the game itself, the focus is not on her, but on him. I think changing the character could be a "bonus" job so to speak, something to be done after finishing the game if you really want it. It would maybe be less overwhelming for you, who already have too much work on your hands.
