I tried to come to this list with an open mind but putting the ladybugs on here are fighting words. They rank with the snails to me in terms of cuteness. I still have my hoard of like 50-100 LPS in my bedroom right now (including 3 ladybugs and 2 snails). Eventually I will have a shelf or something for them :]

In the town I created for my LPS pets, I included a job centre for some reason, which also meant I invented an LPS version of benefits/social security, which was an interesting choice for a child under 10 to include. I did think the octopus was ugly at first, but I created a backstory for her where she was some A Lister popstar who did a bunch of 2000s Lady Gaga shenanigans, and ended up falling in love with her.

Aah LPS my beloveds... I ended up giving my collection to a neighbor who lost all her toys when her house burned down. I had mostly grown out of them by then, but I still had them set up in their 'house'. I had everyone just living in an extremely convoluted multigenerational found family situation so every time I got new playset they 'renovated' and it was simply added to their sprawling monstrosity of a home/business.

I'm not going to say it's FUNNY that your neighbor's house burned down, because obviously it's not, but it is an interesting coincidence that my LPS collection ended up going to a family friend whose house burned down less than a year later. RIP to my little pets :/

OHH I did not know the things I owned were littelest pet shop things? Because I exclusively had G1 things, and in germany they were released under a different name, and G2 was released under the english name, so I never made the connection x,D I COLLECTED the hell out of the G1 things, and I remember they had even like... story book casettes. I probably still have some of them??

Oh my god when I was a kid I also had a Madagascar Hissing Cockroach as a pet who I also fed dog food. Her name was Fudge and I accidentally killed her via forgetting to replenish her dog food. I'm sorry, Fudge.

ooooh that's so interesting! and yeah in America they did NOT advertise that the toys I had were the second generation littlest pet shops, I actually didn't find out about gen 1 until I started deep diving into LPS history for this post. gen 3 is coming out now and has a really similar style to gen 2 so you can immediately tell it's a continuation, but gen 1 looks TOTALLY different. it's like seeing the super ugly original My Little Ponies.
