"Within the snug embrace of the airport I have easy, manageable decisions" I'm not done reading yet (btw thank you for providing my lunchtime entertainment lol), but this reminded me of when my partner, who was driving my car while his was in the shop, called me at 11pm from the side of the road because my car broke down. At first he was seriously stressed and a little out to sea because I was covered by triple A and had to be the one arranging for them to come out and tow him. Midway through my calling for a tow, I get another call from him where he is MUCH calmer, to tell me that the car caught fire and he'd called 911. He said later he was more stressed when we weren't sure what was wrong/how long the tow would take, but once it was burning he only had one option and that made everything simple. It was awful either way, but at least he knew what to do!
