I haven't read this particular book, but this does sound a lot like my feelings on the Dark Olympus Hades and Persephone book lol. Just doesn't really push the envelope as much as it thinks it does

I had my suspicions about what Katee Robert's work is probably like overall, but there was a nonzero chance I managed to read the one book that was kind of a dud in an otherwise impeccable record. I should be so clear: the words "slave" and "slavery" are never used in this book, probably because that would be too icky yucky scary
