Evolution of a Webtoon carousel banner (Patreon)

I thought for today's post, I'd share some rejected concepts for CPC's end of season 2 banner that went up on WEBTOON's carousel.

Generally how it goes is that I'll hear from my editor that a banner is needed for some occasion, so I'll carve out some time to make one. Sometimes it will get approved when I show her, but other times it just isn't what they're looking for, which is what happened this time. Sometimes their design team will even suggest an idea, which is cool (that's actually how that one spooky wallpaper where Gwen is running towards the CPC house with Prez, Syrah, and Jolie above it came about!).

So here is a gallery of the banner's evolution. I wrote some small captions for each image about the approval process, but basically the first two images in this gallery were my initial rejected concepts for the banner, the 3rd was my editor's idea that I stitched together from old panels, and the 4th is what we ended up with.

I am fond of my two initial ideas and hope to complete them sometime in the future still! I wish I had more time each week to spend on fun promo art, but season 3 awaits~!!
