I was recently reminded of this set when a friend asked the question; Why do we take photos of each other?

It's a seemingly simple question to answer but got to a little beyond an initial response opens up a bunch of new questions about representation, identity, being perceived/perceiving, the fallacy of memory and the passages of time. All great questions but if you never act on the impulse to take a photo then they'll never come up. Which I guess is where I landed with my answer, it's an urge, an impulse, a conviction, something I couldn't not do if I tried.

Weirdly, when I originally posted a photo from this set a few years ago, it asked the same question, hence my reminding of it when asked again.

With Jordyn Burnett, November 2021.
