When the hype moments & aura (no pun intended) are so rare, they hit so daaaamn hard. This shit got my heart pumping and I saw this for the first time over 2 years ago lmao.

time for german lessons again! Lügner = liar, lmao. watching this in german was lowkey too funny Linie = line/trace Draht = wire, yeah obvious Aura = literally aura haha Graf granat = garnet, the Granat family crest is inlaid with a red stone that may be garnet. and graf means Count, a historical title of nobility

This episode is kind of funny if you know German sice "Lügner" literally means "liar" lol

Yo

I love how this show can be so chill and have fun slice of life moments for an entire episode than the next episode is about how frieren the slayer killed the most demons in history lol I also love how in every flashback we can see himmel always thinking about frieren first even when frieren didn’t understand. However, in the present, because of all these things, frieren can finally look back and understand what himmel was doing (like making the statues for frieren in the future) while experiencing something similar with her new party Another thing I appreciate is how the demons are depicted in this series. A lot of the other shows I’ve seen makes the antagonists or demons have nuanced morals, but in this show they’re just purely evil to humans Now the really cool part is what you pointed out was the title drop: Sousou no Frieren. This actually has a dual meaning in Japanese. One meaning of the “sousou” part is attending a funeral and sending the deceased to the grave. For Frieren, it means how she outlives her comrades and the humans around her, so frieren is left behind to send these deceased people to the grave (Himmel being the obvious example here in ep 1 as well as heiter). However, the other meaning of “sousou” is literally sending someone to the grave by killing them. This actually means that “Sousou no Frieren” can also translate to “Frieren the Slayer” or even “Frieren the Undertaker” since she is the one who “sends” demons to their deaths by killing them. So the title “Sousou no Frieren” can either mean frieren, the person who attends funerals to send them to their grave; or Frieren, the slayer. Crazy good wordplay for the double sided life that frieren lives I won’t say too much about next the eps but all I’ll say is I genuinely can’t hype them up enough, and himmel is the goat🔥
