2026-09-17 15:00 I haven't seen the reaction yet but a kipper is basically just smoked herring. Looking forward to this one! It's one of my favs.

"someone that drives a boat" you haven't yet gotten over uncle Albert getting lost in the north sea a week ago have you? dont you start that captain birdseye cobblers with me, when i say right i mean right

Nick Jarrett

the man at the bar who wanted sausages is a very young Geoffrey palmer, hes been in a lot of things, one of those people that pop up enough times to say "its him again" over the 70s to 2000s https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0658244/ and subsequently he was in clockwise and a fish called wanda which are both movies with john cleese which ive mentioned before about what john has been in

Nick Jarrett

manuel is from Barcelona and the dog lady thinks hes from kolkata/calcatta (calcatta is the old spelling) which is in india

Nick Jarrett

hairy mosquito she means its out for blood

Kevin Hussey

One of the most underrated moments of this episode is how Sybil’s first thought once she’s found out is to write the bill so they can still get paid. So cold and ruthless… and it’s telling how Basil doesn’t object or comment further on it. Business brain first, even in a crisis… mind you she’s used to dealing with crises isn’t she.

Ryan Lynch

There was a journalist that gave Fawlty Towers a bad review. Possibly a Mr Ingrams. Basil wrote a character into the episode, Mr Ingrams, and had him being caught with a blow up doll.

Mr White (the elderly gentleman with the irish accent wanting back in his room) was Richard Davies , he was in a few little things including an episode of one foot in the grave as victor's schoolfriend. Theres 4 or 5 sitcoms ive seen him in. Mrs white however was mrs/lady ridgemere in only fools and horses with the chandelier, you can tell its her voice although i do know her from one episode of never the twain too

Nick Jarrett

"im a doctor and i want my sausages " is a famous line from Fawlty towers

As Time Goes By is such a mellow, all round feel good program. I wouldn’t mind watching it as a reaction. Possibly not for a young audience, but for us oldies.

Cupid Stunt

The blow-up doll was a petty act of revenge by John Cleese, who included the gag specifically to mock Richard Ingrams a television reviewer for The Spectator magazine, who had written a really bad early review of the sitcom. To get even, Cleese named the guest in the episode "Mr. Ingrams" 🤣

My mum used to like it, the dvd boxset is still here with me but i got so fed up hearing the theme tune over and over that i never had the want to watch it. We did have one foot in the grave and waiting for god boxsets we used to watch/listen to in the background while she was on her laptop and me on a phone in the lounge but it felt wrong to rewatch waiting for god without her so i havent yet

Erin

I sometimes use the "I'm a doctor and I want my sausages" line.

When Polly gets Manuel out of the linen basket, he says "you big scab". A scab is a trade union word for someone who continues to work when a strike is on.

And herrings communicate by farting. Although i like kippers i cant get over the masses of pinbones. Pinbones even put me off smoked mackerel or smoked haddock a tad although i wont ever not be grateful for either as i love smoked fish and mackerel is as easy as 30seconds in the microwave oh and Poached haddock or blotting smoked salmon and then popping into an airfryer, yum.

Nick Jarrett

I mean unless you want to call it throwback Thursday for these classic sitcoms

Julie

I thought they were Welsh.

Julie

I love the taste of kippers, but they are absolutely full of little bones. I found I was too busy removing them from my mouth, to enjoy them. (They are very salty.)

The Puzzler 99

I know you like these things Greg. In the scene when Basil finds Miss Tibbs lying on the office floor next to the body sitting in the chair if you look on the right hand side you can see the shadow of the boom mic on the wall.

Greg and Lisa React_Official

omg! I went to Temu to find something that says this but instead I got stuck at looking at all the funny shirts and quotes! LOL

Nick Jarrett

Could be, im not familiar with all welsh accents

Julie

He sounds like Rob Brydon. Thats why I thought Welsh.

Lee Dellbridge

Did you not see "Learn English With Ricky Gervais"? They talked about Kippers!

Paul S

I always had the softest spot for the last three episodes because it’s the first three I saw when I was really young so they are impressed on my brain 😂 so the next two are amazing as well. On a side note I have Greg’s T-Shirt in green! Good taste my man!

SteveRM

Or Irish accents, it would seem. He is obviously Welsh.
