I loved QI it was fun to learn and be entertained too. I stopped after Series M. But yeah Stephen Fry was a long term comedy partner for Hugh Laurie.

Nick Jarrett

Sir Stephen Fry, he was knighted

Nick Jarrett

House md you might know him as

Nick Jarrett

Ive shown alan davis to lisa before, on one of the pub walks with bill Bailey discussing sean lock. Alan is the regular on QI. He was also star of "jonathan creek" which was written after one foot in the grave Jo brand youve also seen on 8oo10cdcd and youll see her in taskmaster

QI stands for Quite Interesting. It's a very good show with some very obscure facts. And yeah, Stephen is a knight of the realm, he's not a lord (but is a comedian). Different things. The guy who looks familiar and is in a lot of clips is Alan Davies, he's a comedian and actor, has a mystery/comedy show called Jonathan Creek. He is a regular on QI and also he lives in my village (or has a cottage here at least).

Lee Dellbridge

Sorry I thought every American knew Hugh because of the show House lol.

Nick Jarrett

Stephen is a comedian but hes been host of QI and hes been in a lot of documentaries. The chubby guy is Phil jupitus Stephen even does some little science experiments in some of these eps

and will eventually see Alan too!

Nick Jarrett

Oh yeah and when alan stood in for an unwell contestant later on

Christian Rolfe

He is a comedian just the straight man/host in this. He's brilliant in blackadder, which I'm sure you will get to. He's got a strong family name, something to do with chocolate. Born with a silver spoon in his mouth definitely but he's not horrible with it

Hugh Laurie is best known in USA as Gregory House in House. Stephen and Hugh had a sketch show called A But of Fry and Laurie, and also starred in a comedy drama show called Jeeves and Wooster based on the writings of P. G. Wodehouse. Extremely British.

Funny you mentioned Double Jeopardy because here in the UK we remade it for a second time a couple of years ago and Stephen Fry is the host!

This was a welcome surprise this morning :D

I’ve recently started watching QI again as it has a lot of newer comedians I know on! It’s great fun. The older ones are still great but I don’t know the comics as well

You’ll be meeting Alan Davies and a few others from here elsewhere too 😉 😃

Cupid Stunt

Loved Hugh in Blackadder the third as childish Prince George and upper-class twit Lieutenant George in Blackadder Goes Forth.

I learned more from QI than from school probably lol

QI is an utterly wonderful show. The premise is that the contestants are asked to answer questions by Stephen (and later Sandi) and they get points for interesting answers but lose points (and get a big klaxon alarm) if they give an obvious/incorrect answer. But the game is nonsense really, it's an excuse for some comedians (and often some real scientists or historians or whatever) to have a laugh with one another while talking about strange things. It's basically like being in a quiet pub/bar with good company and talking nonsense and trying to make one another laugh. That's the whole show. You also learn a huge amount, and the topics are often properly interesting. Would be great to see you react to the highlights.

I’ve met Stephen almost as many times as I’ve met Richard Ayoade - think I mentioned this before. I met him by chance at my first week at uni, a few times in a pub at uni and then I worked at a hotel in London that he came to a lot. The only time I intentionally met him was at a book signing. He has lived such an interesting life and been through a lot, he’s an inspiration for my auntie as he’s so openly talked about his struggles with bipolar disorder.

A great first QI episode for you guys is Ologies. Series O episode 1. It doesn't have Stephen, but you've seen the other 4 panelists and its just really funny

Guys, I don't know how much free time you have, after watching all this stuff, but if you have some, do yourself a favour and watch some QI, if it's just for yourselves. Sandi Toksvig is the host now, and for quite a few years, so the newer shows, you might know more faces, but the older ones with Stephen, I think you'd enjoy too because Jimmy, Sean, Bill and the like were regulars. It's very funny and...Quite Interesting.

A good thing about QI is you can just drop in at any point in any episode, you don't to start at the beginning or watch them in order, we have a channel called Dave that used to play QI repeats all the time and I'd often just turn it on and it would make sense. The series go by the letters of the alphabet and the topics start with that letter but that's the only kinda structure it has so it would be good to see you react to a couple of random episodes (there are hundreds, you could never watch it all from the start) I think its a show you'd love

Aissa Croft

Stephen Fry is a comedian, just not a stand up comedian.

The Gene Genie

It’s very funny and informative as well. Think of Countdown. It’s a serious game show with letters and number but get the right comedians and it’s hilarious.

Luke Barton

Oh Stephen has played many comedic roles. I'm sure you'll see some of them eventually. It's a cool show that you'd definitely enjoy.

There’s a different between knowing and happening to work in central London

Full shows for sure, QI is among the best shows still running in UK <3

Sarah

Wow.
