We've got some great questions and even more lore! Checkout this amazing and easy recipe for Mississippi Mud Roast:

Easy Crock-Pot Mississippi Mud Roast

This is one of the easiest, most flavorful pot roasts you’ll ever make. Only 5 ingredients, no browning required, and it turns out fall-apart tender with a tangy, slightly spicy, buttery gravy. Perfect for busy days!

Ingredients (serves 6–8)

4 lbs chuck roast (or any beef pot roast cut)

2 packets (1 oz) dry ranch dressing mix

1 packet (1 oz) dry au jus gravy mix OR brown gravy mix

2 sticks of salted butter

5–8 pepperoncini peppers (from a jar, plus ¼ to 1/2 cup of the juice for extra flavor – adjust to your spice level)

Instructions

Place the chuck roast in the bottom of your slow cooker (6-quart or larger works best).

Sprinkle entire packets of ranch dressing mix evenly over the roast.

Sprinkle the entire packet of au jus (or brown gravy) mix over the top.

Place both sticks of butter right on top of the roast.

Scatter 5–8 pepperoncini peppers around and on top of the roast. Pour in your pepperoncini juice from the jar

NO water or broth needed – trust the magic!

Put the lid on and cook:

Low for 8–10 hours, or

High for 5–6 hours until the roast is fork-tender and shreds easily.

To Serve

Shred or slice the beef right in the crock pot with two forks (it will fall apart effortlessly).

If you shred, stir everything together so the meat soaks up all that rich, buttery, pepperoncini gravy; if you slice, pour the sauceon top like a gravy.

Serve over mashed potatoes, rice, egg noodles, or with crusty bread to soak up the juices.

Tips

Leftovers make incredible sandwiches the next day.

That’s it — literally dump and go! One of the most popular slow-cooker recipes in America for a reason. Enjoy!
