Considering Blaze is himself, in trouble with the powers that be, this could be an indirect promotion for Flare and Elias, without it being stated as such. Flare had an emergency that normally would have required an 'all hands on deck' action, but was able to correct t the damage, indirectly through Elias, and took a short vacation after ensuring the matter was corrected, BUT, neglected to inform anyone that the problem had been corrected. So, yes,they're kind of peeved, but also impressed that they, as a team, had been able to fix the problem. I think the one thing everybody is ticked about is that she didn't inform anyone of what had happened, and left without leaving a 'baby sitter' to keep an eye on things until she got back. Considering that she is thinking of Elias as more of an equal, because of his skills, and she has pretty much fallen in love with Elias, screw ups like that are understandable. Maybe not excusible, but still, understandable. Yeah, they'll probably be assigned some form of make work, until they can figure out how to test the two of them and find out just how good of a fix it tesmthey are. (The elder dragons are not stupid or blind, but Flare and Elias still need to learn to respect the chain of command). Oh, and the foreshadowing of the 'Labyrinth' cosplay? Interesting dynamic. Elias as the reluctant Goblin King and Flare as Sarah...

Thinking with my IT hat on, in critical infrastructure, you wait for an independent inspection to be completed before returning to standard procedures. Sure she and Elias "inspected" the cell but Flare is admittedly terrible with runes and Elias isn't an expert in that cell's functions. Even if she did inform them, no one reminded her to stay put, either through their negligence, or she didn't get a hold of anyone. (Can one leave voicemail via the communications arrays?) Regardless she still left her post. Underestimating the Fiend is a serious no-no. Why assume it hasn't been working on two escape routes?

In that case, Flare and Elias would have to search for a place that’s as aetherically dead as where Elias grew up. And that would probably lower their options considerably.
