Content

Hey everyone!I wanted to run a community poll to get your insights on an important decision coming up in My Fluffy Neighbor. While this won't directly affect the current content being developed for v.1.5.0, it will have an impact on the future direction of the game.

Right now, MC embodies the classic slice-of-life protagonist. He wakes up and suddenly finds himself caught in a whirlwind of events he must navigate! While this approach makes it easy to take the story in countless unique and engaging directions, it can also make MC's role feel somewhat passive. Sure, the game centers around his relationships with the various residents of Oakridge, but it feels incomplete if that's all he remains.

Maybe it's time we address the elephant in the room... the 'J' word... A JOB! :0

Within the next update or two, MC could get some form of employment. Something that can provide him with acorns while making his presence in Oakridge feel more purposeful and integrated into the community.

For example, he could recognize that he's naturally become someone the residents turn to for help with various situations (goblin hunting, testing experiments, tavern troubles, etc.). Maybe he could formalize this by advertising his services for acorns - something like an independent contractor.

Alternatively, we could keep things as is. If you feel that formalizing it might reduce the organic nature of these encounters, I'm completely fine NOT implementing it.

Please let me know your thoughts in the comments :)

Can’t believe I can’t even escape into h games without hearing the j slur

Make the Mc work as a handyman helping out the different places like milking or helping at the flower shop taking a shift at the tavern

I'd love to see some more jobs in the game. I really enjoyed the tavern minigame and id love to see more minigames like that in the future.

I was also wondering how the MC was gonna earn more acorns in the future so that'd be a pretty nice way to do that

Would be also funny to have him as a Teacher about Humans and the Outside World or something like that. Just as a SideJ O B. So he would teach them but maybe also learn from them how this new World works. Btw great Job so far. Love what you do:)

It seems people are not as afraid of a job application as I've been led to believe

I voted for continue as is because you were emphasizing a stress free easy going game in general at the start. However, since there's already an established economic system, and it wouldn't be realistic for the girls to maintain interest in him if he was essentially a bum forever. I think him being the kind of do it all, odd job king would be suiting, but I also think you could play both hands if you left out him formalizing it for a while. We were introduced to him in the game as someone who can't hold down a job having gone though 5 in the last year. If he naturally helped out while looking for a job, he could fall into that position without realizing it. The opens up the possibility for some internal conflict about still not being able to get a consistent job, and the potential for the girls to help him realize he's already become "the guy" when people start seeking him out. Basically giving him the drive to find to try his way to integrate into the community, but dragging it out a bit more so he finds his purpose slice-of-life style.

I'd say we implement both 1 and 3

Might be best to keep something like what he's doing now, helping where he can but on a more regular schedule. Maybe every Monday he works on the farm and every Wednesday he works at the clothing store or bookstore. He would also take freelance work as it comes up. Kind of a hybrid worker.

Kevin StarChild

I think it'll be nice to see the MC fit into a freelancer roll just filling in for odd jobs around the village! This gives range to meet new town folk, mini games, story lines, etc.

hotrod

i agree with kevin i think the freelancer job would be a nice fit, everyone will now him as a jack of all trades that helps everyone out but wont feel like he is trying to monetize on everyone's problems.
