This is a rare kind of update, but I just don't have the energy for the regular updates this week, I promise there'll be content next week.

But please, just take a second to read about my Effy.

She was diagnosed with a heart murmur at just 6 months old, it was in a level 6 of 10 of severity. Right there they told us she didn't have a good prognosis and it would even be better to put her to sleep right there, to avoid her and us any suffering... We just couldn't, she was so young and so full of life that it was so unfair to take her fighting chances out of pity and "comfort". Then it turned out she had MULTIPLE ISSUES besides the heart murmur: a cataract in one eye, a mishapen pupil in the other, terrible mouth health and some respiratory issues.

The right coctail for her turned out to be 5 different meds every 12 hours...

They gave her a year max yet she made it to five.

We always knew she was on borrowed time, every crisis seemed like the last, but after some time, we really thought she'd make to like, 10! However, it was always evident how much more difficult things were for her:

Her pace was always slow, she couldn't play so much because she got very agitated, her appetite was difficult and struggled to keep a healthy weight. Yet, she loved to cuddle and to complain for more food, or to go out or to get a snack! she would be a cuddle bug in the winter and a stranger in the summer. She loooved belly rubs and a really good brushing. She also loved sleeping on my lap as I gave classes during the pandemic, then it became a habit every time I sat to draw or work. She loved going outside to the garden and lay on the grass and then drink stagnant water :v

I could tell you so much more about her, but I honestly can't put words to how much I loved her, to how much I miss her right now... and how relieved I am that she is no longer bound to her failing body.

Please take this bit of wisdom I learned thanks to her.

If you ever feel down, if you ever feel you can't, then just remember Effy, who with all the stakes against her, she proved everyone wrong by just taking it slow one day at a time.

Unashamedly love your loved ones with the intensity of a thousand suns, they deserve it... you deserve it.

In loving memory of my Dear Effy, 2018-2024

I'm so sorry for your loss. Please take your time and be kind to yourself. I'm glad she's no longer suffering, the way animals touch our hearts though is so magical and heartbreaking when they pass. Don't force yourself to grieve to fast, it's going to suck for awhile. But the more you talk about her the easier it will get when you are ready to share that pain with others.

I am so deeply sorry for your loss and also happy you had her in your life even if it would have always been too short. I lost my boy 6 years ago he was 5 and it's one of the hardest things to go through. Don't worry about contents. Take your time and be as kind to yourself as you've been to sweet Effy. I'm sure she's raising hell with my baby right now. Much love.
