Should I keep Mygotopia private for Patrons only ?

Hi Patrons ! What's up ? Our family is growing, that's amazing. Thank you all for your support. I appreciate it a lot. 😍A Patron contacted me concerning the exclusive access to Mygotopia Map I give to Diamond Patrons. His words made me think a lot.According to her, it would be best to make Mygotopia a public mod, free to use for everyone. I understand that by doing this, I keep a good image with all the users of Grand Utopia Map because they will be able to benefit from it. It is indeed possible that this will encourage more people to join our Patreon family.

On the other hand, I fear that by making Mygotopia freely accessible, many people will not be interested in the Patreon concept.

I think it is best to ask your opinion directly. And do not hesitate to talk about it with me on Discord, a private Patrons channel is now available. 🤴What do you think I should do about Mygotopia Map ?

I have no problem making Mygotopia available to the public over time. But on the other hand, the very fact that you get exclusive content as a Patreon motivates me more to support you. I think this works both ways in my opinion. We support you, and for the support we get something in return. It doesn't feel right that others who don't support you get the same product. But that's my 2 cents

I just worry that MyGodness and Grand Utopia's reputation could be soiled if people start considering this to be a "Paid Mod". I for one Support the Patreon because I support the project, it's quality, a MyGodness himself. I do not even play any other maps anymore. I do this expecting nothing in return. Although I think paetereon goodies are certainly needed, gating a Map add on imo is not the way to go. I myself would be happy to have roads and landmarks named after us , the voting power we have here, etc. This is enough for me. I worry that the map may also get less exposure if we do it this way as well as the SCS forums may consider this a paid mod and remove it from there, inturn less people will find out about Grand Utopia, which could mean less patreons in the end etc. Either way no side in this arguement is wrong so it must put Kevin in a tight spot haha, I would not want to be him at this time.

Thanks for sharing your opinion too :) It is true that it is not an easy decision. In fact, I'm really trying to make sure that Grand Utopia and Mygotopia will be considered as two distinct maps. So of course, they will only work together but what I would like is for all players (and SCS) to understand that they are not the same mod. For me, Grand Utopia is a free mod map, open to all and usable without any particular restriction. As for Mygotopia, it will be another map, indeed compatible with Grand Utopia, but actually available only to those who actively support me.I see it more as a gift in thanks for their help than as a paying mod. As I told some people, the Grand Utopia topic will only be removed if I offer early access to updates to some players and not to others. The presence of Mygotopia will not affect the Grand Utopia topic because it is not the same mod. On the other hand, it is true that it will be impossible for me to create a topic for Mygotopia on the SCS forum which is directly considered as a paying mod.
