dutch defense day! :D (Patreon)

i visited an event called defense day in tilburg where you could buy historical military artifacts, learn about different branches of the military, sit in various vehicles etc. it wasn’t an official event but set up by people active in that realm of life who wanted to bring people together :) it was mostly families and it was fun to see how excited and interested the kids all were !!!!

here’s some background info on the pics for those interested:

first 3 pics were at the artillerie inrichtingen armaments booth

4th pic: these horses look ordinary but they belong to the yellow riders (de gele rijders) officially known as the korps rijdende artillerie, the oldest and most prestigious artillery unit in the dutch army. founded in 1793 and has a super rich history !!! YAY HORTHETH

5th & 6th pic: these are the 17th armored infantry battalion guards regiment fuseliers princess irene (long ass name). operates as part of the 13th light brigade and is also very historical!

7th pic: part of the royal netherlands marecheussee, our military police force. if you’ve ever been at amsterdam airport and seen uniformed men with guns they’re marecheussee!

8th pic: this is the booth for the defence guard and security organisation who guard military bases etc here. also they let kids hit the defensive pads and it was rlly funny
