Sucks to lose Merle just as he was starting to change. When he said "I can't go back," I think he meant that he can't be the good person everyone wants him to be and would rather go out on his own terms.

Merles' tuck and roll out of the car was against the planned shoot. A stunt double was supposed to do that scene for insurance reasons but Micheal Rooker in true Merle fashion did it anyways against their wishes. RIP Yondu
