You guys get to watch me sob today... LOL

Michael West

This was one of my favorite episodes of the series. Sobbing is definitely understandable. “Theon. …. You’re a good man “🥹. Also, if you remember, Arya pulled the same move when she was sparing with Brienne.

qweXz

The episode was so dark that even the Night King didn’t see Arya coming with her bread knife🥀🥀 The night is dark and full of plot armour.

Mobius

Unfortunately, Sam has thick plot armor. He had no business going back to Winterfell. He also refused to stay in the crypt because he thought he was a great warrior after killing a thenn and a White Walker. That attitude got Edd Dolorous killed, which is pathetic.

Joseph LeRoy

I really hated this epeisode. Terrible battle planning and Arya killing the night king? Her story all series was vengence. Jons was the white walkers. If there was more time they couldve added the true king story line in a good way. But Jon is on a dragon, then fighting the dead. No white walker fights, no 1v1 with the night king? What was Jon revived for?

Ambrosio Sanchez

tyrion is my favorite character in the show but his resume of plotting and scheming isn't as good as people think. like tricking pycelle is one of his big successful schemes and even that got his niece killed. he's booksmart but in practice he doesn't have great results.

Vishnu Vatheriparambil Mohandas

Long night ended quicker than a summer night 😂 None of our great knights got a chance to use their valyrian steel swords against the whitewalkers. Wasn't that the point of valyrian steel swords? Also thousands of people died but most of the main cast somehow survived especially Sam

Axander Curvin-Drietz

A lot of people critique the sending of the Dothraki on their own, but I've always seen it as the fact that they were never really defensive fighters and would do better assaulting than holding back.

Flexorcist

I was so mad at the terrible battle plan, but then i remembered Dany and Jon are kids. Both are really not good at war planning. They have soldiers sure. Jaime, Brienne, Greyworm .. but not really a tactician..Tyrion is smart but he has a spotty at best, war record

Vishnu Vatheriparambil Mohandas

Just recently George R R Martin the author said that the books will be ending waaaaaay differently than the show. So I'm not sure why your mods thought so that books are implying or speculating about Jon being the focus for the throne. I've read the books multiple times and it's not foreshadowing or speculating that Jon will be or should be the King. Meanwhile the show runners have been trying really hard to make Daenerys look mean since season 5 waay different Daenerys than the books, so that when they slowly shift the throne focus to Jon from Dany, people will be onboard.

Dan Tydeman

It's been a good ride, I will watch the next 3 episodes with you as we've come so far but as you have probably been warned, expect disapointment from here on out. Love <3

Charlie

I used to hate it but watching it now theres so many of them you would never think they’d be wiped out like that

Trevor80

It doesn’t have anything to do w Jon, Danny, Greyworm, Jamie, etc, they obviously have plenty of war experience and tactics. It’s all about the writing.

JH__

I must say you’re the best reactor to this show that i’ve seen. Your attention to detail, memory of seemingly unimportant events that come back up later, the passion and emotion, you check every box. Well done! looking forward to the rest of GoT, starting HotD and Knight of the 7K 🤍

Charlie

The unsullied have the biggest balls

JJ

What an amazing episode. Theon's final stand was perfect imo. Glad you enjoyed it despite the crying 😂 I cried along with you haha

Flexorcist

Who commanded war again that was successful?

Deke_HFX

Not just writing. Hollywood loves a calvary charge straight into the enemy despite the realities.

Deke_HFX

To bring Dany and the dragons to Winterfell.

JJ

Me too! Theon's story arc is just perfect. There are a few things I didn't like but overall I loved it. I'm very surprised at the amount of hating and complaining in the comments, the Game of Thrones fan base really is the worst of any tv show...

Funkystar

I think everyone is frustrated with the direction of danys character because yes it feels sudden and i can see what they were trying to do but the approach of her character in S7 and 8 is just very rushed! If you go back to early season dany you could she was always very impulsive and sometimes ruthless when it didn’t need to be! But these last 10 episodes it’s like she went from 40% to 100 and that’s the problem!! Game of Thrones should never have the last two seasons have 7-6 episodes it’s just not enough to tell the story and wrap everything up!! That’s the true issue! But yeah that’s my take on the shift in danys character for me it’s not out of no where but it’s just super rushed and kinda weird!! Let’s see what how they go along with her storyline these next episodes

WanderingBecauseLostLol

I have a strong feeling Arya would not have been the one to kill the Night King in the books, but I guess if the logic is that the army of the dead is "death", and the Night King is "the god of death", then Arya being the one to say "not today" fits in that regard. I just always felt that Bran's entire storyline revolved around a duality of some kind between the three-eyed raven and the Night King. Like we didn't come close to seeing everything George had planned for that storyline. Plus there was the several seasons of encounters between Jon and the Night King, that didnt culminate in anything more than one final staredown outside the gates. There could even be an argument for Jaime being the one to do it, bringing "Kingslayer" full circle and a new meaning of the name he could be celebrated for. I don't know, but sure, Arya I guess lol.

Funkystar

I get what you are saying licha with ”why all the dany if she isn’t gonna rule” but we also followed jons whole journey🤷🏾‍♂️ he was always important otherwise we wouldn’t follow him since episode 1! You are only seeing the dany perspective because all she talks about is the iron throne. But remember Jon never wanted to rule anything he didn’t even want to be king in the north! Soo I don’t understand why you think the show is switching over to Jon all of sudden. They are just confirming his parentage and why he was importent enough to follow for soo long!!

Cole Troutman

lol ima be honest this is the first time rewatching s8 since it aired. Ive been scared to press play😭

Josh M

All these years later I still chuckle about the fact that they put all of the non-fighters in the crypt.. where all of the DEAD people are buried.. Season 1 Tyrion would've clocked that. Gripes aside though, I actually think the episode was really good right up until Arya kills the night king dues ex machina style.. The writers simply didn't think that through at all. Like where did she even come from?? He had a whole party of walkers around him. Insanely stupid, anticlimactic ending in my opinion (the LONG night was not really that long) but the battle itself was great. Shoutout to Theon, hell of a redemption arc.

Josh M

The fact that not a single character actually fights a white walker is so disappointing. We even got that in Hardhome.

Josh M

Most of the main characters had absurd plot armor. I feel like every time Jon, Jaime, or Brienne get surrounded (and it happens several times throughout the episode), it just cuts away and later we see that they're magically still fine somehow.

Charlie

Yeah Dany is more than just the iron throne and she has and will be a huge part of the story whether she gets it or not

Josh M

What boggles my mind is how she swoops in out of LITERALLY NO WHERE. How did Arya get from inside Winterfell to the godswood and past all of his guards? There is no logical explanation that I can think of. Should have been Jon 100%.

Charlie

Im so glad you appreciated this episode the way you’re supposed to, this season is a sensitive topic and you’ve dealt with it very well, I feel like I’ve seen every reaction channel on the internet and you’re easily my favourite.

Itss_NattyJ

Agreed, Deke. Everyone had a role to play regardless of how small or big it might have been, all were the connective tissue in a bigger plan.

Josh M

Agreed! With another 10 episodes or so they could've fleshed it out to make sense. Hell, it used to take a whole season to travel Westeros in the early seasons, but in 7 and 8 you can do it in a single episode. Rushing the story is absolutely my biggest gripe with S8.

joe gibson

the illusion I was watching anything more than a fanfic died after this episode when I was watching live. look forward to the book vlogs!

Itss_NattyJ

Licha, you are one of the few reactors that bawled their eyes out as hard as I did during Theon’s final scene. And the music didn’t make it any better. 🥹

Zach VanDyke

there are definite issues with this episode but it is undeniably intense and emotional. i loved it first watch through and still enjoy watching reactions to it. “theon you’re a good man” 💔💔💔

Funkystar

Theon really had one of the greatest redemption arcs I’ve ever witnessed😭😭💔😔 he really did earn all our forgiveness🥹 the did his character justice from start to finish

Kerry Knight

The one that got me was when Jorah died and Drogon wrapped around them. 😢

Funkystar

Sam should have never survived that battle!! Would make sense if he stayed at the citadel but if he is in the winterfell plot then he should have been killed in this episode no doubt!

JH__

you think Jon would’ve been better at sneaking past all the guards than Arya? lol what

Axander Curvin-Drietz

I mean literally though they are designed for attacking not holding walls and cities, they have no experience holding castles, they hardly have experience fighting on the ground. Charging was by far the play for the dothraki, maybe not in that way, from a historical standpoint using them to flank would have been smarter but yeah

Jblaze20

Why are all the people who hated this season even watching this? That's like watching any season of True detective after s1 !

IcySystem

Season 8 really has some amazing aspects, like cinematography and scale. Watching it the first time gives you a great sense of dread and you fear for all your favorite characters. However, on every rewatch it gets worse. Everytime a character is in danger and gets overwhelmed by wights, the scene cuts away and in the next scene the character is fine. You don't get to see how they got out of 5 wights swarming them - it was just for you as a viewer to feel scared after all. It's for shallow shock factor without realism. The Red wedding had more important deaths than the long night that lasted only a couple of hours. What about Old Nans stories? A night that lasted a generation? This was a kids birthday party with a bouncy castle in comparison. The opening shot of the series introduces us to the White walkers - the ever looming threat... defeated by a screaming wanna be assassin girl with a magical dagger to 'subvert expectations', because 'it wouldn't feel right if it were Jon'. Who screams when assassinating someone from behind? And what did Bran do? Chilling in the godswood, watching through the eyes of ravens and not pass on information he might gain from scouting. Who puts their siege engines in the front? Who has their infantry in front of a moat with narrow crossing so a retread forces you into a choke point? They put the Dragonglass on their battlement on the merlon (the high points) instead of the embrasures (openings). How is that gonna help, when the wights crawl over? It's all too much... I could probably fill 50 pages with everything wrong with this episode.

Josh M

Well for me it's because I loved the previous seasons and watched those reactions, so of course people are going to see it through to the end. GoT has one of the most hated final seasons of any show ever, so the reactions aren't surprising.

SPACEZFAP

Bran was making sure everything led to that exact moment by going into the past

Vishnu Vatheriparambil Mohandas

"making sure everything works"? His role should be more than that. The three eyed raven is much more. You know that the first three eyed raven is supposedly sent the direwolf with pups south of the wall so he can spy and control the stark kids right? Atleast the book version of the story. Jeor Mormont's raven controlling stuff especially the election that gets Jon to win.. all these influenced by the three eyed raven. Three eyed raven has this immense ability to control manipulate stuff. Not just sit somewhere and make sure things are going fine😂😂😂

Abigail Buck

The extreme anxiety release by the end judt turned to tears as well as theon death. Bran gave her the dagger knowing it was her.

SPACEZFAP

how do we know it was the previous three eyed raven and not bran?

Greekiee

I can finally tell you, Theon is in a three way tie, with Jamie, & Arya, for my favorite character. Watching you fall in love with them, has been a delight! 💜 Theon has my heart!

My_Cousin_Mose

My problem with the plan is that unless the Dothraki won the battle on their own then the obvious result would be they would all die and then be resurrected by the Night King. And Jon knew this.

My_Cousin_Mose

I just rewatched the scene of Arya and Gendry and I would say Arya was just laying there- not sleeping. And ok! I'll not post a rant about the amount of plot armor and terrible writing- others have beat me to it and done fine jobs. I'll say 3 quick things -Sam fighting on the front line and surviving is absolutely ridiculous. Showing a character about to die and then cutting away only to see them fine a minute later is just lazy writing. And having a bunch of archers as your defensive line for Bran is so freaking dumb. Literally any other weapons would have been better.

My_Cousin_Mose

Well I'm not sure I would have told you this lol but as the mods said Jon being set up as heir to the Iron Throne is only speculation in the books. Who knows which route the story will go and in all likelihood those books will never be written anyway. But if that's the route things go then it's like the mods said- there is heavy foreshadowing throughout the story. You'll have to read and decide for yourself though. I definitely have thoughts! But they'll have to wait.

My_Cousin_Mose

Watching this season is bad but when you watch the interviews with Dan and Dave and you hear their reasoning behind everything it makes it so much worse. They were far too focused on "subverting expectations" as opposed to just telling a good story.

Brandon Morris

Personally I watch pretty much every moment of reactions for the first 4 seasons or so, then i start skimming thru season 5-7, then i pretty much just watch the recaps of season 8. Despite me hating the last season or 2, it's still, by far, my favorite TV show.

Nick Lackie

Crazy to watch this episode and actually be able to see what’s happening

Joey Largehands

Licha, you probably won't see this but I'd suggest compartmentalizing the show from the books. There are things the show do that, like you've said, are just eerily convenient. That level of contrived convenience doesn't take place in the books. Nor is there any singular foreshadowing on who will rule in the end. In fact, it is FAR from clear exactly what ultimate role any of the main characters will have, and there are main characters in the show who just aren't in the books.
