My_Cousin_Mose

Finally! I've been waiting all day to watch this!

SpacePotato

In order to sail to Kings Landing from any of the southern areas of Essos (the triarchy cities of Lys, Tyrosh, and Myr, as well as places like Volantis, The Slave Cities, Qarth, Yi Ti, and Asshai) you have to sail through the step stones. You cant even sail from Old Town or Lannisport to Kings Landing (or Driftmark) without going through them. Its incredible that Viserys just kinda shrugs it off over and over lol, anyone with ships in westeros should be absolutely livid. Also, the Hightowers are one of the biggest houses in the reach because they control Old Town, the only city bigger than Kings Landing in westeros. They are sworn to the Tyrells, so it would be similar to viserys marrying a Tarly or something

Mari

The Dondarrion land is in a land called the marches its is where The Reach and the Stormlands meet each other and the entrance of Dorne. the Dondarrion are Stormlanders but their are other Stormlander houses in the Marches (Selmy) and Reach houses as well (Tarlys). At the moment Dorne isnt in the 7 kingdoms and the the houses part of the Marches are the main defense against Dorne. it is likely that his mother was just a commonborn Dornish women who lived in the region.

JMP

The Velaryons are from Valyria same as the Targaryen’s and another house called the Celtigar’s the only difference the Targaryens have is that they were dragon lords in Valyria while the others didn’t have dragons.

Amanda Hill

Laenor is Targaryen, his mother is Rhaenys. As long as you have Targaryen blood, you’re eligible to bond with and ride a dragon. I like Viserys as a person but maaaan he really set his daughter up badly (in a passive way) while Otto’s plan to install his blood on the throne was perfectly set. He manipulated Alicent into becoming the queen, then he was the one who suggested Rhaenyra as heir so he could use the advantage of his daughter now having Viserys’ first male heir and he’s obviously infecting the council with these thoughts as well.

Mari

honestly marrying a Hightower is not a bad move only difference is the velaryons are only sworn to targaryens while the hightowers are sworn to the tyrells as well but they have their own Lordly bannerman and their own fleet which probably would be the Reaches Navy if they go to war.

Flexorcist

When Viserys was seating there and drinking his wine.. i can hear Master Aemon- A Targaryen alone in the world is a terrible thing.

Dresdon

Dorne isnt apart of the 7 kingdoms at this time, they never got conquered and actually resisted the attacks from targs and their dragons. They dont join til generations later. When it comes to Hightower theyre actully a really important house. Old Town where theyre the ruling Lords is where the Citadel is so all maesters go there. Hightowers hold important positions all throughout the different ages. Theyre around just not important during the main story!

Ljh

Daemon and Caraxes are so dope.

Cat Indigo

Its always a bit odd to see HotD because I one of my favorite anime is High-school of the Dead.

Beefi

You've already seen the actor who plays the Lannister twins in GoT. In the first season, he played the knight at the tournament whom Ned wanted to interview, but who then died at the tournament.

ramon carter

yes Leanor has a dragon Seasmoke

Jordan Clark

Yes Balerion became Viserys dragon and then when he died he never took another dragon. But Balerion was a little older than Vhagar

IQLou

Completely agree with what you said at the end. A big part of Viserys' thinking towards Rhaenyra is reflected in this quote from this episode: "I swear to you now, on your mother's memory, you will not be supplanted." Earlier he admits his obsession with a male heir killed Rhaenyra's mother. Naming Rhaenyra heir was also a way out of his abyss of grief and regret. Their shared trauma over losing Aemma compels him to keep her as heir. He is insistent on the throne passing through Aemma's line. Looking at the Crabfeeder was so gross. Glad Daemon split him in two 😆

Dale Gwynn

Am I the only one that think these dragons look rather wimpy compared to like Drogon

Funkystar

Drogon is one of them tho😭🤷🏾‍♂️ bro was overpowered

I don't think Otto saying in last episode that he don't envy Viserys for remarrying.. that dialogue.. I don't think Otto was genuinely feeling bad for Viserys. I think he was trying to underplay his plans to remarry Viserys especially to his daughter. And he was kind if discouraging Viserys there from marrying Laena Velaryon. That Otto snake doesn't seem to me like a genuine guy. He seems like that snake blood of Little Finger and Tywin

Do you recognise the actor playing Jason and Tyland Lannister? He played Ser Hugh of the Vale in Season 1 Game of Thrones and got killed by the Mountain in the tourney. A splinter through his neck

Just copy pasting the comment from previous episode about the intro: Intro is the Targaryen family tree. Blood of the dragon. Flowing through the model of Valyria Viserys is making in his chambers. We see the first symbol the doom of valyria with volcanoes erupting and dragons falling and Aegon the Conqueror's crown. That represents Aegon the Conqueror. And then we see his two sisters Visenya and Rhaenys. Then from Visenya we see a line going to her son Maegor the cruel and a line from Rhaenys going to her son Aenys. From Aenys we see Jaehaerys and Alysanne. From Jaehaerys and Alysanne we see several lines coming because they had 13 kids. From their son Aemon we see a line to Rhaenys, the Queen who never was and from Baelon and Alyssa we see the lines to Viserys and Daemon. Daemon's symbol is his winged helmet, Viserys' symbol his crown. And from Viserys we see a line to Rhaenyra. Her symbol is the locket of her Valyrian steel necklace Daemon gave her. And eventually blood flows into a fiery pit. Fire and blood. All those in the family tree that are dead have their symbols overflowing with blood, so you can see everyone till Aemma, Viserys' ex wife has their symbols overflowing with blood. With each person dying and new characters being born, this intro will update. So keep an eye on it. Now you will see another line from Viserys going to Alicent and from them their kids

Vishnu Vatheriparambil Mohandas

Viserys' master of laws is Lyonel Strong. The guy who gives good advices. This episode introduced his sons. The guy with clubfoot Larys Strong who sat amongst the Ladies during the hunt. Alicent introduced him. and the other son we heard Viserys mention. Harwin breakbones, the strongest knight in the 7 kingdoms.

Vishnu Vatheriparambil Mohandas

Viserys should already know what the Lords of the 7 kingdoms think about a woman being on the throne. Because they clearly showed him what their stand is on this matter when they elected him instead of Rhaenys during the great council of 101 AC. Yet a passive king like Viserys decides to choose an unconventional path.

WanderingBecauseLostLol

Dany's dragons would have been from some ANCIENT line, as their eggs were fossilized before magic brought them back into viability

Brandon Greene

my personal take on the otto and viscarous realtionship is they are friends but otto main goal is to better his house for legacy so they are taken care of when he isnt around anymore. It just brings me back to when cersei said "with the game of thrones you either win or you die"

mistalulu

i would love if you can keep the audio playing when taking the show off screen

Johnny R

The dragons do all seem to have different traits, like size, wing span, even neck size as we see with caraxes. Makes them all more unique.

Johnny R

She states in her patreon bio thats how her reactions are. I believe its to make it easier to edit for YouTube because youtube will flag a video for audio as well. She has muted reactions so you can pull up the episode and watch it with her.

mistalulu

ooh shi i never knew that

Joey Largehands

Balerion is older than Vhagar. Balerion was hatched in Valyria before the Doom (he was the last living creature from Valyria), which happened more than 200 years before HOTD. Vhagar was born on Dragonstone. Balerion was one of 5 Targaryen dragons that made it from Valyria to Dragonstone, but the other 4 died before Aegon's Conquest. So they were probably REALLY old too, and Balerion was the baby.

Joey Largehands

A point to ponder, this history is meant as background lore that services the main story in some way. Viserys dreams of a MALE son/heir of his as some prophesied King (a Prince That Was Promised). Yet what do we learn in GOT? In Valyrian, that noun HAS NO GENDER and the correct translation is Prince OR Princess. GRRM is trying to tell us something here...

Starspire Station

Fun Fact: Margaery (Tyrell)'s mother was a Hightower, as they are both houses of the Reach! Her name was Alerie (you can definitely see some Hightower hairstyle resemblance in later episodes).

chrisrumpy

Comparing the Valerian Fleet to the lowly a** Greyjoy’s is INSANE work 😂😭
