Team Green all day baby!

IamRellyb

Team Alicent AND Team Black! 😂

Joey Largehands

I do agree with the nuance, especially re: Alicent who was put in an uncomfortable position by her father and has tried to do the right thing. But calling it the "Hightower family" seems strange and wrong. Especially since [in the show] they weaseled their way by dishonoring the wish of their king, to which the head of their family also sworn to. But more to the point, for me this is Targaryen vs Targaryen. But I'm also vehemently against the 'choosing teams' framing of this entire story.

Michael

green kek

Vishnu Vatheriparambil Mohandas

Did you notice in the intro we have Daemon's symbol. His dragon winged helmet. And Alicent's symbol like Maester's chain links.

Joey Largehands

Yeah the younger vs older character castings were really well done in this episode. Especially for Criston Cole, those two actors may well have been identical twins!

Michael

its not nuance. its just feeling bad for alicent lol. and ironically her father (a green) is the one who put her in that situation to begin with

Burak Yağız

I only have sympathy for Alicent on the green side 1 person isnt enough so team black for me (sorry Alicent love you girl)

Vishnu Vatheriparambil Mohandas

Again maybe I'm thinking too much into it. In ep 4 Viserys mentioned how Otto became the second most powerful man in the realm after Viserys' father died who was the hand to Jaehaerys the old king. Ever since I believe Otto was plotting. The great council we saw in ep 1 where Viserys was elected instead of Rhaenys. What if it was Otto's idea to make Jaehaerys arrange that great council instead of directly making Rhaenys, his eldest grand child as heir to the throne. So that way power won't go to Corlys. What if Maesters were the reason Aemma lost all her babies and died. Was this all Otto's plot. Or maybe Hightowers and Maesters plots? Maybe I'm overthinking. But these shows give us people like Little Finger and now i doubt everyone and everything

Itss_NattyJ

I knew before she even started this series Licha would be Team Green. lol

Joey Largehands

Yep, 10 years [and counting] of resentment...no way that can be reconciled...

Vishnu Vatheriparambil Mohandas

You might remember Brackens and the Blackwoods that was spoken at the council about their quarrel. We saw them in ep 4 where a blackwood boy came to present himself for the hand of Rhaenyra and a Bracken guy kept on insulting him and ended up killed by him.

MKF1004

Plenty of people on both sides contributing to this mess, but Team Black all day long.

Flexorcist

Before Tommen, Aegon redefined the City of Kings Landing😅

Burak Yağız

yes lol when she was reacting to got and which characters she seems to be enjoying I immediately thought oh she is going to be team green

Ambrosio Sanchez

2 of the 3 kings in GoT were bastards. it doesn't matter. the only reason it matters is because of alicent wanting her son to be king. so she is pretending like it matters

Dale Gwynn

Yes I miss Milly Alcock but I think she is the New Supergirl??

Dale Gwynn

yes his baby cause hubby is well... you know

Itss_NattyJ

she stressing herself out over it. No one else cares that much but her and Criston Cole (and her dad).

bard

you cant pass off bastards as true born heirs to the throne. What Rhaenyra is doing is no different to what Cersei did. Its all treason at the end of the day.

bard

sub 80 iq moment. of course them being bastards matters.

Starspire Station

I get what you're saying, but in Westeros (and ASOIAF), the Iron Throne itself is inherited through legitimate blood. Ned Stark didn't die because he "didn't like" Joffrey, he died because of his honor. He couldn't bring himself to lie and say that Joffery deserved the throne as a "legitimate child of Cersei and Robert." If bastardy didn't matter, there would've been no Game of Thrones. The War of the Five Kings started in the first place because legitimacy determines who has the lawful right to rule. In my opinion, Alicent isn't inventing an issue so much as she's responding to a succession crisis (albeit on a much smaller scale). If an heir's children are widely believed/known to be illegitimate, conflict is inevitable. In both GoT and HotD, entire wars begin because of legitimacy and bastardy.

Burak Yağız

Alicent is salty just because she wants her sons to be king otherwise its nothing big that they are bastards they are legally Rhaenyra and Laenors kids. In GoT both Joffrey and Tommen were bastards everyone knew yet nobody in court had any problem with it. Truth does not matter only perception as Viseyrs said earlier in the show if king declares them legitimate then it shouldnt be anybodys problem

Ambrosio Sanchez

if the targaryens say it doesn't matter, it doesn't matter. no one can do anything about it. and it also isn't morally wrong. unfortunately for everyone alicent has a Targaryen.

Ambrosio Sanchez

dooge, the problem with cersie's kids being bastards was that she was lying to Robert about it. there isn't actually anything wrong with bastards being kings. the targs made the iron throne, they make the rules. the ppl involved are targs... they could make the rules. unlike the Lannisters, who couldn't even beat a teenager w/ zero command experience in any battles, the targs (including the extended family) are basically untouchable. "the only thing that could tear down the house of the dragon was itself"

Hailey “Beloved” Robeson

W mods for telling them not to read comments but L mods for telling them about the time jump

Funkystar

I have no issue with either sides I’m all here for the drama and beef only person i cannot stand is Crispin Cole😌 he bothers me man coward!!!

ramon carter

Allicents sons are trash that makes me team black

Jordan Clark

The children’s father is much more of a rumor in the book. For one Leanor is not black and two Rhaenys his mother has black hair so Leanor could’ve easily carried the dark hair gene over to them

Beefi

No, it's not even close to being the same. To cut off the bloodline of the reigning king by swindling him into believing that he is the father of someone else's child, that`s a clear betrayal to the crown. But as a reigning queen or heir to the throne yourself, making your own bastard child the heir to the throne, by presenting them as your legitimate child, that`s only a formality. To whom would that even be treason? To themselves? Viserys doesn't care either, he just represses it because it makes no difference who the father is.

bard

How is it not? They are both trying to pass off bastards as true born children and are both committing treason

Beefi

In GoT and HoD this plays no role at all. As you said yourself, in GoT it was bloodline that mattered, especially the king's, which Cersei simply wiped out completely. And in HoD, it's not an issue at all and doesn't cause anything. If Jace and Luke were actually Laenor's children, it wouldn't have changed anything. Except for one less point of attack for Alicent & Co. in their attempt to challenge Rhaenyra's claim. As for what legitimizing bastards can lead to, there would have been a much much much better example in the Westeros history :-) But this isn't about the formal legitimization of bastards anyways. This legitimization by scam, which only female rulers can use anyway, is actually indisputable, and is more the rule than the exception. But this utopian TV Rhaenyra method is completely absurd and the absolute worst case scenario. Any father would hit the ceiling and disinherit her.

SPACEZFAP

Sadly the show has an extreme bias in favour of team black so sides are pretty black and white

Vishnu Vatheriparambil Mohandas

Ok. Hear me out. I might be overthinking. But Otto told that Corlys was arranging a match for Rhaenyra with the son of Sealord of Bravos. That might or might not be true. But he brought that up so that Rhaenyra can be married off to Laenor. He said, "we need to arrange a match of our own". It was during those days when Rhaenyra was on tour for a match. He didn't want Rhaenyra to marry someone and have kids which will strengthen her claim. If she marries Laenor, she won't have kids because he knew Laenor was gay. Was this the plan of Otto? But somehow Rhaenyra managed to get some kids now😅 Rhaenyra was just a placeholder for the position of heir till Otto could get his grandson on it. So that Daemon won't take over the throne.

Funkystar

Feels like your being very judgmental to rhaenyra😭😭 yes she is the heir but you are expecting soo much from her! I remember you admiring Cersei for season😅 or do you value scheming above all? What is she supposed to do? Her father told her to marry laenor but bro is gay!! He could not give her anything🤷🏾‍♂️ only way for her to have heirs is to have another man’s children🤷🏾‍♂️

Arkeves

Its literally the same thing. Rhaenyra is presenting them as the children of laenor

Arkeves

It literally does matter? What do you think the show was about? Do you think the starks are traitors?

Tyson Wilson

Oh good god get ready Team Black stans are wild

Thina

The difference is Laenor is not the future king to the throne (only consort), Robert was. Rhaenyra will be ruling queen, if she wants her bastards to be passed as legitimate then that is her choice to do so. Laenor, Viserys, and even Corlys are completely fine with it. So who exactly is this offense/treason to?

bard

Are you serious? All of that is literally irrelevant. They are bastards. They have no claim to the throne. They are being passed off as true born children. That’s treason. The hand didn’t say it would mean death for the children AND Rhaenyra for no reason.

Timminson

Don’t think I’ve seen anyone be team green yet 😂 this is awesome

Thina

"They have no claim to the throne" how about through their mom.. the heir to the throne 😭 None of my point is irrelevant because Westeros is not a democracy, if the King, your husband, and your father in law have no issue with claiming your children there is literally nothing wrong with it. The King and any other Lord can claim whoever they want as heir, that's how Westeroi inheritance laws work.

bard

They are still bastards though. They don’t have a claim because they have not been publicly claimed by Harwin as his bastards and then legitimised by royal decree. They have no claim.

Thina

I'm sorry but why would Harwin claim them? Her kids aren't in the running for Harrenhall, they're in line for the throne and Driftmark. Making the only relevant people who need to claim them Visery,s Rhaenyra, Laenor, and Corlys. We have to remember that her kids being bastards isn't confirmed public knowledge. It's highly speculated but there is no concrete evidence or confession from anybody that would lead to a process where they need to be legitimized by royal decree.

bard

I’m talking about how they would have a claim to the throne. They would need to be legitimised first. And the only way for that to happen is for them to be claimed by Harwin then legitimised.

Thina

Again, no one has confirmed knowledge that they are bastards, I really think you're forgetting this aspect. As of right now it's all speculation. That's a gripe I have with the show, they make it seem as if it's so obvious that they're bastards when Rhaenys (the kids' would be grandmother) had brown hair, and it is also speculated that Aemma Arryn might've had brown hair too (hair color never confirmed). Meanwhile in the books, it was still up in the air and more rumor than an unspoken truth.

bard

In the show they are bastards with no claim. It doesn’t matter about the books. It also wouldn’t matter if nobody had solid evidence. In the show they are bastards and have no claim. That’s it. That’s the end of it. Bye.

Chanty Doodles

How has Rhaenyra slept around? She clearly been in a decade long loving relationship with Harwin and her gay cousin is clearly a close friend so how exactly has she slept around around?? Just because she chose when to lose her virginity? Remember Allicents kids have the exact same amount of Targaryen in them as Rhaenyra's boys. Viserys ignores Allicents moans because it dont matter, they're all Rhaenyra's and that's all that matters. All their eggs hatched and he loves his grandkids. I dont get why you're immediately blaming Rhaenyra too for her kids hair. This clearly is on her gay husband not being able to do his duties. Rhaenyra has done hers and produce heirs the best way she could in her situation. Also, why you saying poor Allicent when she's trying to ruin Rhaenyra and put her boys lives at risk. Allicent has no business questioning the king or Rhaenyra so Allicent is doing this all out of jealousy not honour for the realm. Honour didn't make her queen and she certainly hasn't been raising her own sons at all unlike Rhaenyra who has decent boys away from Aegon's pranks/influence. Allicent is putting all her frustrations on Rhaenyra when this is all because her own father used her. Allicent & Criston have both held grudges for a decade, its ridiculous. Especially when you see how hypocritical they've become. All of Rhaenyra's boys are legitimate by westeros law actually, since Laenor has claimed them as his own and so has house Velaryon. (Yet Allicent who has no relation is so bitter and angry about the kids)

Kenny

Only the king can legitimize bastards and since they refuse to acknowledge them as bastards they have not been legitimized. it doesn’t matter if house Velaryon claims them or not.

Kenny

Very few people knew that Robert’s kids were bastards and I’d say Jon Arryn definitely cared which is why he was killed. By the time it was public knowledge Joffrey was king so nobody in HIS court cared, but it’s the entire basis of stannis making a claim on the throne

Chanty Doodles

Erm actually it does matter if Laenor claims them as his own. Also the kings word is law so either way they're true blood of the dragon.

chrisrumpy

Idk why you think the bastard kids is such a big scandal. She’s the heir she can do what she wants.

William Lenzi

Don't let people bully you into their opinion, there is too much of that already 😅

PeriodG MarketWatch

To everyone saying that being bastards doesn’t matter, I refer you to the blackfyre rebellions where even though Daemon Blackfyre was given the blackfyre sword and preferred by the king he still lost the war and never became king. It absolutely does matter
