Pleasant surprise! Just off the clock too. Perfect timing, will be locked in!

Starspire Station

Yay! My favorite episode of HotD. The piano (Lament) in the beginning reminds me of "Light of the Seven" (the song that played with Cersei blew up the Great Sept of Baelor). P.S: No need to apologize for being out of focus!!

Justine Le Houx

Yay! I do have the same analysis of Alicent & Aegon. Interesting.

Joey Largehands

Alicent isn't just "joining" the Faith for politics. The Faith has been in Westeros for thousands of years and the center of the Faith is in Oldtown. It is protected by House Hightower, just like the Citadel is. But obviously she IS "using" it. This isn't a scheme in the same way Cersei used it, which I believe is the connection you're making.

I think as far as the whole Alicent Aegon thing goes. Even in the pre time skip episodes we kinda get to see that Alicent is not a big fan of being a mother, especially when it comes to Aegon. She's from a traditionalist, religious house and family, and her eldest son is a drunken degenerate who represents the antithesis of everything Alicent preaches about: honour and decency etc. She's been ashamed of him for years and he's become what he now is at least partly because she ignored the signs and didn't teach him how to be a proper human being, let alone a ruler. I am inclined to believe nurture triumphs over nature in these scenarios. If Alicent had been more of a present and caring mother to all of her children equally, then maybe they wouldn't have turned out the way they did. Helaena aside of course, she's a sweetheart.

Joey Largehands

Licha, I'm def curious on your answer for this. If tradition is the thing you're using to promote Aegon over Rhaenyra (man over the woman), wouldn't tradition also say that there's no way the Greens should just prop Aemond up instead of Aegon, since he's the second son? By the logic of point-scoring between the two, If Aegon is worse than Rhaenyra, shouldn't it be Rhaenyra who rules? Rather than promote Aemond? Also, my personal belief is doesn't matter how bad your situation is, if you grape someone then you are to blame. Neglect isn't nearly strong enough to blame Alicent for what Aegon did with Diana.

Joey Largehands

Great observations / perceptions on the parenting in general. That seems something the show was def trying to get across.

slnzulas

Rhaenys killing a bunch of smallfolk and leaving doing nothing is kinda hilarious.

slnzulas

I think Alicent easily believed Viserys's wish for Aegon to be king bc of the talk he had with her during ep3 in front of the fire when Viserys talked about his dreams about a son named Aegon. Also Viserys never cared about his children he had from her like he cared about Rhaenyra so she possibly wanted to believe him too.

Juancho

Helena is a dreamer…Viserys thought he had the same gift

Amanda Hill

The divide of Otto vs. Alicent to retrieve Aegon was because Otto was going to advise Aegon to have Rhaenyra killed and Alicent was never going to allow that so she wanted to get to him first.

slnzulas

Agreed but also since Alicent didn't have her kids by mitotic division i think Viserys is equally at blame.

Joey Largehands

Bruhhh! Right! Such a pointless thing to add in. That alone woulda been enough for me to be "team F Rhaenys" for life if I'm a smallfolk

SPACEZFAP

The interpretation of Aegon's character was actually so spot on, literal embodiment of neglect.

August Banks

The back flips and mental conniptions necessary to still support Allison who is honestly a shit mother and dumb AF is wild to me. I mean if you like her, that's cool, but to still support the treasonous and murderous Team Green is insane.

Flexorcist

The Red Queen has entered the chat😅 said to be one of the fastest, if not the fastest dragon

Flexorcist

Well i guess no other way out.. and Targs dont really count the small folk as people.. the kinslaying thing is so hateful in Westeros, tho the Targs do it better than most😅

Louis

Lichas reaction during the foot fetish scene is GOLD 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Nick Lackie

I don’t necessarily think Alicent is dumb. I think she heard what she wanted to hear.

ramon carter

agree I never seen someone simp so had for team green even okay with Aegon being a rapist and killing rhenerya

ramon carter

I would have more respect for Allicent if she took the throne for herself like Cersei did and rheanys told her to do aswell

Michael

bro i cant wait for the finale. the afterthoughts, the fighting pits, the absolute snakes, the loser Otto being the one that was creaming for this to happen. he is literally the problem, but yeah. theyre not the problem. lol. how does the argument come up for aegon to take heir when u still criticize rhaeneyra in her teenage years in the first 5 episodes. they are irrelevant now. brazy

Mohammad Conte

How can u feel bad for a guy who grapes women allows his kids to fight in fighting pits?🤨

Marc van de Klashorst

“You desire not to be free, but to make a window in the wall of your prison.” Some of the bars in this episode hit hard. Brilliant writing (except for mass murderer Rhaenys bursting through the floor).

IQLou

Your Aegon analysis was seriously impressive and actually has me excited for next season, even though I don't really like the season too much. Some people are too immature to analyze "bad guys" objectively like you do. That being said, I can't be Team Green with how resilient Rhaenyra is written in these episodes. The show failed at staying unbiased and that's why the fanbase is so polarized. It does get annoying watching fans make endless excuses for Rhaenyra literally with every single reactor, despite the show's obvious bias towards her. And its a lot worse with Daemon imo. Watching you not care about any of that and be a full Alicent stan instead is honestly refreshing... and hilarious, I fear people on YouTube are gonna be seething a lot worse than here 😆️ cant wait for the next one!!

Marc van de Klashorst

The sacrilige of Larys talking about bees when Lord Beesbury has just died. Shameful.

Tronik485

I don't think Aegon even knows he has bastards. And judging by episode 8 of this season, he didn't even realize he'd committed rape. That doesn't excuse him, but even in criminal law, there's the category of intent. If someone doesn't realize they're doing something wrong and simply leads a depraved lifestyle, you can't treat them like maniacs who revel in the suffering of their victims. It must be said that the world of the show is quite cruel, and Aegon is simply not the worst we've seen. Besides, we see how his parents failed as caregivers, and we share his guilt between them.

Tronik485

Aegon doesn't try to make his bastards heirs to the throne. Licha never criticized Rhaenyra for having bastards, but for not finding a less obvious lover and for trying to pass her bastards off as legitimate children.

Mohammad Conte

Aegon definitely knows he had bastards. He was aware graping Diana is hes he told his mom that he was having some fun with the servant girl

Joey Largehands

Yeah think in general we should get away from point scoring decisions/actions. They're human beings who don't always think logically. But I do agree with her in that the flip flop is crazy. As long as that doesn't become a recurring thing......

Joey Largehands

Youtube is gonna be insane lol... Btw I don't think the show knows what it's doing and that's the problem. They flip flop as much as the characters do. They think morally complex means characters doing one thing now, then the opposite next. That's not complex, that's just inconsistent. The acting does a lot of the heavy lifting. A mediocre cast and this show would be far less compelling. It feels like an epic soap opera / telenovela.

Tronik485

How do we know Aegon knows about his bastards? And yes, of course, that's exactly what he said. That's what I'm writing about. He literally doesn't see the problem and doesn't see it as rape (it's still a terrible act, I'm only writing about his motives).

Tronik485

But killing Rhaenyra is a completely logical move. Just like killing Aegon was for Rhaenyra

Yari mandi

The way I hate Ser Criston, not a single strategic thought in his head and also the resentment he has for Rhaenyra has poisoned him. Also not to be the devils advocate, but I would say that as bad of a mother Alicent is, she was at a huge disadvantage. Her mother had died when she was young and she was raised by her father who we know values power above all. Even basically selling her to the king as a child, she has had no one to look for guidance and Viserys being sick and occupied with his issues and leaving the ruling to Alicent. I also do feel like she doesn’t feel love for her children, it’s more of a duty for her as is everything else in her life. On another note, Larys is creepy af. Sorry HOTD, GOT did it better with Littlefinger and Varys🫢

Joey Largehands

Rhaenys wasn't literally tellng Alicent to take the throne, she was highlighting the hypocrisy of Alicent doing more harm to women, by advocating that Rhaenys should have been queen while doing everything to block Rhaenyra's ascension. Alicent herself, an episode prior, told Rhaenyra she'd be a good queen. So Alicent doesn't actually know what she wants (and her comfort is finding a window within the prison of no agency - and reliance on men - she finds herself).

Kevin Mogg

Making this comment before i watch, this is my least favorite episode of the series. Don't know where Rhenys gets off saying "men would burn the kingdom before letting a woman sit the iron throne" then going to kill who knows how many mothers with her unnecessary stunt

Kevin Mogg

we know there are multiple exits to the dragon pit not the ceiling
