I've decided I think Larys has Otto...

This wasn't even meant to be the finale, but the showrunner said it would "improve pacing" but I think it did the exact opposite. This is a great episode in my opinion despite the bad reviews, it's just the fact that all of season 2 was build up for season 3 is what is upsetting, especially when we have been waiting 2 years for season 3.

I believe the abrupt finale was due to HBO but I could be wrong.

The context of the dragon in the Vale? Showrunners made that up. GRRM didn't like that change and wrote like 5 pages about the topic on his Blog in response. "My dragons are creatures of the sky. They fly, and can cross mountains and plains, cover hundreds of miles… but they don’t, unless their riders take them there. They are not nomadic. [...] You won’t find dragons hunting the riverlands or the Reach or the Vale, or roaming the northlands or the mountains of Dorne. Fantasy needs to be grounded. It is not simply a license to do anything you like. "

When I watched this episode for the first time, the character of Lohar gave me strange vibes. I didn't like the acting and other viewers pointed out, that a pirate with perfect teeth breaks the immersion.

IcySystem

So... guys, what do we tell her about the guy in the tree, when she asked 'who are you'?

ryany

That's just dumb. An author adding something to his story, then putting guardrails on it that make no sense, because their addition to the story causes issues. A common issue with grrm. A wild dragon is going to go wherever the hell it wants in search of food sources, shelter, etc, because there is nothing in the world that can stop it from doing so. That's grounded and realistic for a fantasy addition, not whatever nonsense grrm is spouting.

Loooved following this journey with you. Will you do a character ranking like for GOT? Would looove to heat your insights 😀

Plz do a reaction video to HOTD S3 trailer

ramon carter

they changed what he wrote though Sheepstealer was a wild dragon on dragonstone not the vale and they took out Nettles and threw Raina in the story a dumb change for no reason just to give Raina a dragon when she gets Morning later in the story

ramon carter

alot of people hated the finale because HBO made them cut 2 episodes from 10 to 8 we were suppose to get a huge battle to end the season and yes that was Daeron's dragon Tessarion the blue queen with the Hightower army cant wait to see that dragon its blue and cobalt

Jose

I hope you’re new place goes super good. Sending good vibes to you and your house🙏

tryin_gosling

yeah and they couldn’t even rewrite anything at the time of filming cus of the writers strike

tryin_gosling

i feel that people leaving these comments aren’t reading the vibe, she clearly liked the season lol

tryin_gosling

yeah and then couldn’t even rewrite anything to make it all work cus of the writers strike

@ryany That criticism kind of misses the actual issue with the change. It’s not just GRRM put arbitrary rules on dragons. It’s that those rules already existed in his work and were part of how the world made sense. Without this 'rule' for super powerful fantasy creatures, dragons would probably rule every continent. The show is now ignoring them by changing the plot and leaving out potentially very important characters.

Words cannot describe the amount of hate I have for that vision and Helaena's part in it, and this incessant need to link the shows. Thank the gods that AKOTSK doesn't feel that need.

Key parts in that NotABlog post were of course "As creatures of the sky, they like mountain tops, and volcanic mountains best of all. These are creatures of fire, and the cold dank caverns that other fantasists house their pets in are not for mine. Man-made dwellings, like the stables of Dragonstone, the towers tops of the Valryian Freehold, and the Dragonpit of King’s Landing, are acceptable — and often come with men bringing them food. If those are not available, young dragons will find their own lairs… and defend them fiercely." and "Similarly, the dragons of Westeros seldom wander far from Dragonstone." The fact that Rhaena finds her dragon (will not reveal its name yet) in the Vale is what seems to have mostly irked GRRM. He clearly implies that wild dragons prefer to stay near volcanic activity, as creatures of fire. Whether that is all grounded or not I don't know. What he seems to forget is that a certain dragon wil later turn wild and settle in The Reach. It's clear there was a falling out between him and Ryan Condell and his team, and this was his way of lashing out. While I think the fact that this dragon is in The Vale is minor (I agree with the person above that the Nettles excision is more detrimental), some of the writing this season still puts me on GRRM's side, although I admit I do feel for the writing team given how sparse the source material is in narrative (by design). I hope Season 3 improves. Only two more months to wait (though I hope to see it before that).

Mari

this is such a silly take lmao the shows are linked they all come from the same world and deal with the same families and one character, who is heavily implied to be the biggest background character moving in the SOIAF series (also was shown in this episode) is a very important person to the realm during Dunk’s time and only 3 of 12 book are written in that series you dont know how it is going to connect

In that same blog post, he mentioned that he really liked the first half of S2... Blood & Cheese, The dual of the Cargyll Twins, Battle of the Burning Mill, Battle of Rooks Rest. It wasnt until later in the show that George got frustrated. Excluding Nettles was probably one of the largest complaints.

My_Cousin_Mose

It wasnt GoT by a longshot but this was still a good show. I'm definitely gonna need to rewatch it and when I do I'll probably have an entirely different opinion on each character. As it stands I am no longer a supporter of team Green. I'm team Aegon the Magnanimous. I know basically the same thing but the rest of them suck so f'ing bad.

Karina

I thought you said Alicent was making the right choices when she was hating on Rhaenyra lol. She could have just backed her and Viserys decision and not groom her sons to hate Rheanyra and avoid all this.

1) Daemon knows neither BR nor Dany, so the only reason to put them in his vision is for audiences to go "Hey! I know them from GOT!" I don't even mind BR that much because not everybody seems to recognize who it is. But that final shot of Dany is such blatant pandering to the audience, because what is Daemon to understand from that? Also, in other pandering: the dagger. 2) Targaryens are dragon dreamers. Not all of them, just some. But the way Daemon gets the vision is here is through greenseer magic, which no Targaryen has ever had. And very powerful greenseer magic at that, something only Bran has had so far. All of this is in conflict with the lore, and nothing in the text of Fire & Blood suggests that Daemon was 'special' in any way of magic and such. 3) I am inclined to believe Helaena is a 'dreamer', based on the text, so to give her something like that in the show is perfectly fine with me. But what is she actually doing here? Is she influencing the vision? WHat os going on? The only thing that would give her the ability to do this is a glass candle, but none of the shows have ever acknowledged them, and it would be a major thing if there was one in King's Landing at the time. 4) BR will be a link between AKOTSK and GOT, but that is already the case in the books. GRRM will not write any of the Dunk & Egg stories beyond perhaps The Village Hero and She-Wolves of Winterfell, so how deep that connection is we'll never know. But at least in the first season it hasn't pandered to the show audience yet.

Mari

visions and prophecy are not supposed to be explicit hes not supposed to see Dany and BR and truly know who they are. and the last shot is actually of Rhaenrya on the throne. the way i took it is that he see them and knows they are important somehow, recognizes that being king and potentially rebelling is pointless and the vision is indicating that Rhaenrya being queen is somehow important in wars to come. also why do yall hate the dagger so much lmao book fans who hate these shows love to harp on what grrm likes and doesnt and he liked and was apart of the first season where the dagger and prophecy were introduced as being important for the Targaryens so arguing against it is pretty silly tbh. greenseers do not need to touch weirwoods. it helps beginners but there is nothing in the books that suggests that the only way they can use that magic is by touching weirwoods likewise people who aren’t greenseers can get visions from touching weirwoods Jaime gets a vision dream in acok when hes sleeping on a weirwood stump close to… Harrenhal. im ngl i dont know either. my first theory was that her, BR, and Bran are connected in some way deeper than other greenseers. or it could just be a way for them to transition to her scene w Aemond but truly i dont know and agree that helaena being there is kind of pointless and tho ur first post starts with helaena, i mainly responded bc you said something abt them linking the shows. do u not think that Egg may have been trying to hatch eggs also apart of prophecy. also if the show is really going to go over his whole life until death the prophecy that the prince who was promised will be born to Aerys line happens when hes king.

Marc van de Klashorst

The thing with the vision is that I would have preferred him to have seen more generic imagery instead of explicitly BR and (above all) Daenerys. Like I said, that is pandering to the audience. That he gets Rhaenyra finally I can understand, this is supposed to sway him away from trying to seize the throne for himself. As for the dagger: I already didn't like it turned out to be this 'special knife' in the original show... The prophecy of Aegon's Dream itself: fully onboard. I know greenseers do not need to touch weirwood, but the original show made that a thing, and Daemon doing the same connects him far more explicitly to Bran than it does to Jaime for instance. I think it's just sloppy writing. By the way, keep in mind that BR is not yet alive in this moment in time. I do agree that Egg was probably trying to hatch dragon eggs at Summerhall or something along those lines, but we will never get to see (or read) that because I don't think the show will run for enough seasons to get there. I'd love it if it happens though!

Cassandra

Reminder that Alicent’s children are also half Targaryen because lately you’ve been emphasizing on Rhaenyra’s eldest sons bond with their dragons (bmainly Jace) and how they’re half Targaryen, and I think is due to their physical appareance that people forget that Jacaerys Lucerys and Joffrey have as much Targaryen blood as Aegon Aemond Daeron and Helaena. Which is why I think Alicent saying “is a wonder to me their eggs ever hatched” is one of her most stupid moments because dragons don’t care about legal, social or economic statues; they care about targaryen / valyrian blood and the personailty of the person trying to bond with them. Jace Luke and Joffrey might not look like your typical Targaryen or Velaryon and they might not be Laenor’s biological sons but they’re Rhaenyra’s they got their Targaryen blood throught their mother

Deandre r Swift

The last conversation is so astronomically dumb. This show is now a clown show.
