Thank you for some great reactions! Looking forward to watching these last two 😁 Aside from Dunk and Egg, Lyonel became my absolute favourite of this series. He's so funny and definitely my favourite Baratheon so far in the ASOIAF world!

Mari

valaar is now heir and there are two brother between baelor and maekar

Brian

The line of succession goes kings first born then the sons of the king then the sons of the heir then the heirs siblings then their sons and Maekar is the last of four born of king Daeron so he’s basically way far down then egg even further I probably messed that order up at some point but that’s how I think it goes lol

Mari

you can see the scene where maekar does it too its right after aerion yields and dunk looking over it looks like lyonel and baelor were 2v1 against maekar and maekar swings his arm back to swing his mace at baratheon and he hits baelor in the back of the head.

Deke_HFX

You did NOT straight face a That's what she said!

Carrie Petty

"Humpty Dumpty gore". Was nice, lil lady. 🤣

TheMannisEnjoyer

I recommend you read the Dunk and Egg novellas between A Storm of Swords and A Feast for Crows. AFFC references Dunk and Egg a lot.

WanderingBecauseLostLol

The site I watched this on said "shouting in Dothraki" on the subs when Ser Arlan was having his drunk old time by the fire 😂😂

Vishnu Vatheriparambil Mohandas

Penultimate episode of season 1 game of thrones was named Baelor. Because Ned Stark was executed at the sept of Baelor. And in the penultimate episode of season 1 of A Knight of The Seven Kingdoms, Baelor Targaryen dies. They keep up with the traditions it seems 😂 Even though Sept of Baelor was named after a different Baelor.

Deke_HFX

'Harry PotterCore' after Maekar's 'My boy' was diabolical

Zach VanDyke

it’s not super clear, but I’m pretty sure Ser Arlan did not know Dunk was following him until he went up to him and told him to get up. He was absolutely wasted drinking because he had lost his nephew who was his squire in the battle we saw at the start of the flashback.

JMP

You’re right about the seven kingdoms btw. They get their name from when Aegon conquered, so there was no river lands (was part of Iron islands kingdom) or crown lands (were disputed lands) yet.

NuclearDonut175

Would highly recommend reading the novellas after a storm of swords, lots of references and backstory that leads into AFFC

swilkins08

I think she said "humpty Dumpty core", which is even funnier to me.

CM

The succession goes to Baelor's sons. His brothers are next in line after that, but there are two more between Baelor and Maekar (Aerys and Raegel), so Maekar is still a good bit down the line of succession.

Avery

egg had to scream or they would've called the fight

Kemi Stanton

I knew it was coming so on my first watch I was actively looking to see if they would show THE moment, and when I saw it, the force of it still startled me to where I reflexively yelped out loud

Kemi Stanton

Seconding this! I know it might be a little bit conflicting since the show will eventually cover them but it truly adds SO MUCH to AFFC I have to insist

Burak Yağız

Hate him all you want but you gotta give him credit Aerion is a very well trained and skilled warrior if Dunk wasn’t such a beast tanking those hits he would have won

Burak Yağız

Might be the best shot and most real feeling battle among the a song of ice and fire shows

Axander Curvin-Drietz

I believe that Arlan didn't really know that Dunk was following him at first. It looks like Duncan was trying to hide from him.

Cassandra

In the flashback of young Dunk, the First Blackfyre Rebellion had just ended, and Ser Arlan had lost his nephew in the final battle. So he was most likely drunk and grieving, and probably didn’t notice Dunk was following him until the moment we see Ser Arlan approach him. Also, maybe he didn’t want to get attached to someone, only to risk losing them and go throught another grieving situation

Burak Yağız

Ser Arlan didnt realize Dunk was following him until the end where he says get up

Dresdon

OMG YOU HAVE TO WATCH THE EXTENDED EDITION OF LORD OF THE RINGS NEXT

My_Cousin_Mose

Dunk looked like he slashed his femoral artery. It may have been hit but I would guess Prince Aerion is fully "membered".

Marc van de Klashorst

Nice detail: there are indications that Dunk is an ancestor of Brienne. In the scene with the fight with Alester, Dunk jumps him and bites his ear. This is a throwback to the Brienne vs. The Hound fight in GoT.

Marc van de Klashorst

"Caravan departs after the roast." Hard cut to Baelor's funeral pyre :)

Deandre r Swift

Nothing "turns them mad". The Targaryens are no more mad than any other family that live in the south. The Targaryens are not the super special family they're not even the only dragon riders.

Thomas Clancy

Arlan didn’t know Dunk was following him!

JH__

“The caravan departs after the roast” and then it flashes to the Targaryen funeral pyre lmao such a funny bit

Cyr Dub

"Humpty Dumpty core" yoooo Licha come on, don't do my boy Baelor like that x'(

Sai Medicherla

Loved the reaction. I haven't watched the last one's reaction yet. I do think Sir Arlan did not know that Dunk was following him, so that's why he was on his way, doing his stuff. He was drunk for most of it, because, like someone else pointed out, he lost his nephew during the the rebellion, where his nephew actually squired for him. He's just completely drunk throughout, did not observe Dunk until when the day he said "Get up". Baelor, it's truly tragic, especially because Aerion had already yielded when Lyonel and Baelor were fighting Maekar. You can see in the background, Meakar was fighting 2 vs 1 with Baelor and Lyonel and just swung his mace to hit Lyonel and thatand it hit the back of Baelor's head. Given Aerion withdrew his accusation, that whole thing could have been completely avoided, but that's how the world of George R.R. Martin works, I guess. Good ones don't live longer.

Muse PT

Pretty sure ser Arlan only notices he's being followed by Dunk when he sees him fall.

Jill Clay

The novellas are wonderful the first thing that got me into George RR Martin books. Dunc and Egg remain my favourite characters.

Jill Clay

You have to appreciate that Ser Arlan had just lost his squire Roger, at the Redgrass battle which is part of the Blackfyre rebellions. I was thinking it he was maybe reluctant to take someone else on and then to lose him all over again.

Karina

Ser Arlen was kind and stern and loved Dunc. He didn’t make him walk. Thats how they met and it was before he took him in to squire
