Nick Lackie

Easy choice. I’d skip The Hobbit altogether tbh

Nick Jones

The Hobbit movies are fun, the Star Wars prequels are necessary.

Licha Reacts!

is it bad that I'm hoping star wars wins? hahaha I'm hooked

Dresdon

You should do both eventually but Star Wars is a must.

Clay F

Skip both, but you craving more Star Wars so go for it. My favorite SW movies = original trilogy + Rogue One. I saw E4 at 13 in theater in 1977. I like SW prequel E3 ok. My favorite SW content = original trilogy + Andor (24 episodes). I remember SW prequels released, some hardcore SW fans didn't like them. Many SW old-timers resistant to change, no matter the change. I didn't really like SW prequels either (but didn't hate them), watching over my kids' shoulders. Also, not big fan of SW sequels but don't have sheer hate some do. I read The Hobbit book as a kid and loved it, but The Hobbit movies a letdown to me after LOTR. I voted SW Prequels.

Lynn Baker

Prequels have some merit. The Hobbit is just kind of upsetting to me personally lol. Vivid memories of sitting in the theater having an existential crisis. "Why am I here??"

What's the purpose of this poll? Is it a challenge to see if a poll can ever reach 100%? :-)

Jeffy G. Blum

read the hobbit watch star wars, easy choice

tryin_gosling

If you accept them for what they are the prequels can be somewhat fun

My_Cousin_Mose

The most disappointed I've ever felt in a movie theater was when i saw the 1st hobbit movie.

My_Cousin_Mose

Even though LOTR is my absolute favorite film trilogy and Star Wars is only "pretty good" in my book i must vote against the abysmal Hobbit movies. They were a cash grab that turned 1 relatively short book into 3 bloated movies.

My_Cousin_Mose

Its not bad Licha but it is surprising you chose sci fi over the fantasy trilogy.

WanderingBecauseLostLol

There's certainly a generational divide when it comes to the prequels where the boomers and gen xers are largely not fans of them, while millenials often times consider them peak (I only hold episode 3 in that high regard, myself). Ultimately I will always be a fan of them, at least it was still George Lucas' story at that point. Plus the Disney era has given me an all new appreciation for what we had before haha

Clay F

Yeah -- I have noticed that. I remember older fans hating on the prequels, whereas some younger people tend to like the prequels, especially younger people who watched the prequels as kids.

Clay F

That's essentially my exact thoughts.

Clay F

I tend to agree with you Adam. Both are mediocre at best -- at least for my personal tastes.

Cole Troutman

lol i was so sad when i finally got my buddy to watch lotr, he watched the hobbit on his own and said he liked it more :/

swilkins08

IMO Star Wars prequels are a very interesting view into how the events of 4/5/6 shape up. I also think Rogue One makes sense to watch. They all have flaws but are still quite enjoyable and are also very different in an interesting way from the original trilogy. The Hobbit movies are skippable to put it politely (and offensively bad to put it rudely) and if it were up to me I'd rather see you more quickly get to 3 of the numerous other banger movies that you haven't seen yet.

Cole Troutman

ive found its a VERY hard generational divide. OG star wars fans sorta accept the prequels these days. Any gen z star wars fan ive known seems to love them

Conzi

Neither are very good imo.

Aviv K

Why? Hobbit is better than lotr and stars wars is just boring and bad acording to the first 2 movies of it anyway that i have watched, havent gone further

Clay F

Cole -- good point.
