Uncle Phoenix

LOL. Sorry world, but I need to cancel everything so I can watch this reaction video.

Alex Gorell

“Nobody puts Baby in a corner”. This is Such a great movie.

Robert da Spruce

The amount of couples that ended up in the ER attempting to do the lift the year this movie came out must have skyrocketed 😄

Dan M

I’m gonna have the Time of My Life watching this movie with you! Nobody puts baby in the corner!

Dan M

Now that you’ve seen this, it’s time for Grease…if you haven’t seen it already.

TeeZee22

Patrick Swayze had a really good run and seemed like a good guy also. Such a shame his life was cut short! Ghost and Road House are the movies I think about most when I see him. Outsiders is an underrated movie with Swayze and several stars, including Tom Cruise, when they were young.

TeeZee22

She would love the music in Grease!

Dan M

I’m hoping that each of those movies you mentioned gets a reaction on the channel at one point. The Outsiders has a great ensemble cast, many of whom were just starting to make a name for themselves, including Robe Lowe, Emilio Estevez, Ralph Macchio, Matt Dillon, and Diane Lane (I had a big time crush on her because of this movie).

Dan M

And the dancing!

Uncle Phoenix

I love this time, Before you’ve blown up; and you still have time to respond to your followers.

Raven Dark

This movie is just a big happy sigh. I love it so much, and your reaction is the cherry on top. SO good. And now that you've seen this, you need to see the other huge hit Swayze had after this - GHOST. Completely different type of movie, and let me tell you, coming off of this, nobody expected that from him.

Also, the song that plays while he's leaving, She's Like the Wind, is sung by Patrick Swayze. Man was talented and then some. No, I'm not insanely jealous...at all. Honestly. 😔

Gary Giaimo

Add Red Dawn to that list!

Hi Teegan, to answer your question about Patrick Swayze's dancing. He was actually a professional dancer before he became an actor. His mother, Patsy Swayze, was a dancer, choreographer, and dance instructor in Houston. Patrick began training at her studio as a child and studied several forms of dance, including ballet, jazz and modern dance. After moving to New York, he trained with prestigious dance schools, including the Joffrey Ballet and Harkness Ballet. He was athletic as well with football, gymnastics, swimming and martial arts among his interests. He also portrayed Danny Zuko in Grease on Broadway (John Travolta's movie part) When Johnny is leaving and says goodbye to Baby before driving away, the song playing, She's Like The Wind is Patrick singing. They were looking for a song for that moment and Patrick showed them his song and they thought the lyrics fit perfectly, so they added it. This movie was the sleeper hit of 1987. Nobody expected it to do as well as it did at the box office and then become the classic that it has. Patrick is probably best known for this, Ghost, Roadhouse, The Outsiders and Point Break with Keanu. All those movies are from the 80's and 90's. Cynthia Rhodes (Penny) was also a professional dancer. She was in movies in the late 70's and 80's like Flashdance and Staying Alice with John Travolta which is a sequel to Saturday Night Fever. Why are they so "bendy" they are all dancers.

Fun Facts: The scene of Baby laughing when Johnny's fingers run down her arm pit over and over was real. She kept laughing and after a while Patrick got annoyed and it was a perfect moment of them not acting. Jennifer and Patrick starred together in a movie a few years earlier called Red Dawn, Jennifer has explained that during filming, Swayze's personality rubbed her the wrong way and she didn't particularly enjoy working with him. So when she learned he was being considered for Johnny Castle, she reportedly wasn't enthusiastic. Swayze, meanwhile, knew there had been friction between them. Their Dirty Dancing screen test changed things considerably. Their chemistry was undeniable, and Swayze reportedly apologized to Grey for their earlier difficulties

Now that you've seen Dirty Dancing, you can always watch the short 8 episode first season of "Off Campus" It's one of the main character's favorite movies. She watches the movie during the show and you'll now understand the references that she makes from the movie.

Thanks for the reaction. As you acknowledged, you smiled a lot. It's a positive movie, despite the odd or slimey Harvard/Yale guys. Baby is attractive. Johnny Castle is a good guy. I remember the contemporary songs with the movie (e.g., "She's Like the Wind" sung by Patrick Swayze, and the theme song "Time of My Life") -- played all the time on the radio back then. I avoided this movie for 35 years and finally watched it a couple of years ago and liked it. Jerry Orbach who did great portraying the father will always be Lennie of the original "Law and Order" TV series to me.

The best of remaining Patrick Swayze movies are DONNIE DARKO (Swayze damn good acting in that) and THE OUTSIDERS (I read the book as a kid). Better than Ghost, Roadhouse, and Point Break, and especially better than Red Dawn. Just my opinion. Admittedly, in Point Break, had the charisma going with the Swayze/Keanu Reeves combo (and Lori Petty looked good).

This is good to know Clay! I do have to say I have been interested in Roadhouse for a while. I feel like it's a movie that could just be good fun! LOL

LiteWeight Gaming / Reacting

WOW! This was a joy to read. Love learning the behind-the-scenes things like this. It's really cool they were able to both move on from the difficulties they had. Especially in such an intimate film.

LiteWeight Gaming / Reacting

Makes me very happy you enjoyed the reaction! I definitely feel pressure when I know that a movie is so beloved. I've seen others mention Ghost as well! I'll have to get this on a poll!

LiteWeight Gaming / Reacting

Other Ghost suggestion! I really should look into this one! Road House on the other hand, I've had my eye on for a while!

Yes, the first season dropped on Prime Video in May with 32 million viewers in the first 2 weeks and spent several weeks at #1 breaking records. In July it moved to #3 as new movies and shows were released and was the #5 show a couple weeks ago. It is Prime’s 3rd most watched series only behind Ring of Power and Fallout. It beat The Boys and Reacher. It was renewed for season two before the first season aired and they started shooting it in June

Richard A Etts

I vote for Red Dawn also.. It has them both in it before Dirty Dancing, and a laundry list of other stars VERY young.

Jeff Turner

A fantastic movie! It's great to see you smile so hard.

Jeff Turner

Ditto. Ghost and Roadhouse are fantastic!

The YouTube edit of this made me join for full reactions... of course the first movie I want to watch isn't streaming anywhere except Tubi lol - but we are gonna make it work. See you in an hour 40.

fire12wife

Dan, have you seen Diane Lane in the movie Six Pack (1982), with Kenny Rogers, Erin Gray, and Anthony Michael Hall? She was so great in that movie, and she was just 18!

Dan M

fire12wife, I have NOT seen that movie. The title sounds vaguely familiar to me, but I didn’t know Diane Lane was in it. I’ll have to look it up to see what streaming service might have it and check it out. Thanks for the suggestion!
