Literally, my favourite horror movie. Are you gonna watch the sequels? And if so, which continuity? Or all? And I love the game!

Matt Robinson

YES! My favorite horror movie of all time! If you decide to watch any sequels, I'd suggest watching Halloween 2 and then going straight to H20. There are many routes you could take though. So glad you watched this.

I was never into Horror movies growing up as they all scared me by their looks alone. It wasn't until around 2000 that I decided to finally start watching some and this was the first one. I join in on this being my favorite Horror movie and have since watched every film multiple times. I've also watched several YouTube videos where people do a deep dive into every aspect of each film with this film having a TV edit with deleted scenes added. I've seen gameplay footage and really want to try the single player campaign!

It’s just not Halloween without Halloween. A classic horror movie that made slasher films a huge genre in the next decade. I can hear that theme in my head as I’m typing, and it brings back a lot of nostalgia.

I’ll check out the game ^^ & is Micheal supernatural or what he had no body armour on & was surviving all this !?

I've been watching this ever since it first came out, seeing it in the theater maybe three times and many times since. It was, I believe, the first low-budget indie horror film to become a huge success and a cultural touchpoint. (BTW, the wrench in the hand when Michael breaks the car window is a flaw...the wrench was needed to help the actor break the glass, but I don't believe it was ever meant to be seen/recognized by the viewer.) BTW, I first bought this on laserdisc, and that special edition included extra footage that was added when it ran on TV, giving a bit more background on Michael's character. I don't know if any of the subsequent releases on DVD have also included that additional material.

Too early for Halloween... and I'm okay with it!

A great horror movie. Skip the sequels. Cool you saw stuff in the movie that inspired aspects of the game.

If we're doing classic horror...Please watch "Psycho". 1960, absolutely set the mold. Pure classic Hitchcock. Great story, great pacing, beautifully shot. It raised the bar in an era when cinema was 'Safe' and not very scary. Plus, Janet Leigh stars in it...Jamie Leigh Curtis' mother. Absolutely essential.

The great John Carpenter (The Thing, Escape from New York, They Live, Big Trouble in Little China, Christine, In the Mouth of Madness)!!! The one that started the whole slasher craze, but did it first and best.

John A

Love that his mask is William Shatner, such a cool fact. So great that they are watching the movie "The THING" (1951) John Carpenter did not know at the time that he would later remake that movie, he included it, because he loved that movie. Back in the day, there did not have to be a reason, today, people want to know why, much better, not knowing to me.

An underrated facet of this movie lost on most modern audiences is that this was the first supernatural mass killer. We' ve seen it done a milion times now but we assumed it was just a crazy person even though Donald Plesence is basically telling us he's Evil Personified. Its not until the he sits up after the closet did it hit kid me that he actually was an unkillable Boogeyman. It hadnt been done before(to my knowledge) so was a legit revelation that sent every hair up and out the door. Glad you enjoyed it and hope new folks to the movie can appreciate the tropes it invented although theyre mostly passe today. Also for decades this was the most profitable movie ever, made on a shoestring budge but reaped 10s of millions in theatert and VHS sales/rentals. A true horror classic. Keep up the great work, glad we're almost to Spooktober

Why skip the sequels? Some of them are very entertaining.

Clay F

The sequels are not as good as the original imo. I am not alone in thinking that. At least require Halloween II (1981) to win a poll before reacting to it. My guess is would not win a poll here.

Wade Wallenstein

While I agree the sequels are not as good they shouldn't automatically be dismissed in my opinion. I am also not alone in thinking that. What makes you think it wouldn't win a poll? I'm guessing there would be enough interest guessing by the comments here.

Clay F

Wade - I respect your opinion and not saying I am right but just giving my opinion. If Halloween II won a poll here, I would be all for the reaction. Other than that, I suggest to skip Halloween II (and all Halloween sequels with possible exception of Halloween 2018). There are so many better movies (better horror movies) out there than the Halloween sequels. Also, I suggest to focus on original movies (not sequels).
