“For me, success is not about the wins and losses. It's about helping these young fellas be the best versions of themselves on and off the field,”

Prince of Tides is a novel that deals with some pretty difficult topics. Well worth the read. There’s also a movie starring Barbara Streisand and Nick Nolte.

For the non-UK viewers; Roy Kent is based on the real football legend Roy Keane. Roy Keane played for Manchester United, was at the very top of his game, a real legend, who retired and tried coaching, then settled as a no-nonsense straight-talking pundit. I personally hated him as a player, because of club rivalries, but he's amazing as a pundit and is clearly a great guy all round. My favorite detail about this episode: After Roy gives the "Best Dressed" trophy randomly to one girl, and then tosses the box onto the ground....the girl who got the "Best Dressed" trophy gives it to another girl who is objectively the best dressed with all her accessories. It's a tiny detail as the frame focuses on Roy, but those girls have learned somewhere to be good teammates. ❤️ Also, don't worry about the sync. I never try to time it up with where you start. I manually time it up watching your thumbnail change scenes at the same time my TV does. It's actually really easy. The longer you keep the thumbnail going with sound is the one thing that would make it easier for me.

Oh, the Prince of Tides has this summary on Wikipedia: "Tom Wingo, a teacher and football coach from South Carolina, is asked by his mother, Lila, to travel to New York City to help his twin sister Savannah's psychiatrist, Susan Lowenstein, after Savannah's latest suicide attempt. Tom hates New York but reluctantly accepts, largely to take the opportunity to be alone and away from a life that does not satisfy him." A book about a sports coach facing his trauma with a psychologist. Of course a sports psychologist would love it! Also, I'm pretty sure Ted did tell Sam ahead of time about Jamie coming...after their talk, I can't imagine he'd have done it without that. But...trust in Ted!

When Ted had the Diamond Dog meeting about Jamie he said that Sam unsettled the issue because he reminded him that Sam had a great dad and Ted knew that Jamie didn't and needed support and he didn't want to give up on him. So the vote was 2 for and 2 against (yet another tie, a theme) which Ted chose to override. I never got why he didn't discuss it with the team though.

The commentator sitting beside Roy is the sleazy coach, who was fired by Rebecca in the very first episode.

Longish post inbound: I am curious at your reasons for thinking he told sam...Why would you 'imagine' he told sam...this is a show that shows you as much as it feels you, so to speak... Sam's face at the end, too ...he also was not looking at jamie, he was looking at ted..thus the persed mouth as to express 'wtf why is he here when you said he wouldn't be' ...similar to the kind of dread and confused look Keeley had....and Ted was holding sternish like "I know, but please, trust me" kind of face....

For my part I think Rebecca knew thus the smile...she didn't need to look at jamie down on the field... It was not a shocker...she was looking at keeley...interesting she and keeley never talked about how the tweet made eachother feel with jamie and ted at the bar...keeley was all about Twitter that episode with Roy's results...and she is director of media for the club... ...also, to bring Jamie's contract about and not have Higgins involved means Rebecca must have signed off on him... someone has to approve for Jamie's insurance and payment reasons before he puts one toe on the pitch...plus rebecca felt guilty for instigating the removal of jamie and confessed last season...she hit a few birds with one stone on that...for her...and also if keeley is okay... But now... why would you think he told sam? I am curious about what hinted at that for you?
