Yay, the exam’s over, and now the actual demon slayer missions begin! The shape-shifting demon seems pretty intimidating, but I’ve got faith in the Tanjiro and Nezuko duo. I wonder if that’s the one Urokodaki mentioned (?) Your guess about the faceless characters was pretty much spot on. That’s often how extras or non-recurrent background characters are depicted—they appear once and have no meaningful role in the story. Other times, they might have faces but look very generic. They’re like NPCs in games :D The guy wiggling his arms seems to be a typical “troll” or funny character. Most anime have at least one or a couple of those. As you’ve probably noticed, some scenes are quite comedic. While the show itself isn’t a comedy (yes, there’s a separate comedy genre in anime), most anime include some comedic scenes or elements regardless of genre. Yes, ranking and grading of things and achievements are quite prominent and important in Japanese culture. From martial arts ranks to health assessments—where even your general health or organ functionality can be graded on a scale—it’s everywhere. It’s also not uncommon for students to be ranked based on grades, athletic ability, or other criteria through what’s sometimes referred to as informal school caste system. At the Japanese language school I attended, at the end of each semester every student received a language ability diagram showing their scores compared to the class average, which was something totally new to me, lol. It’s kind of a double-edged sword: while it can be fun, interesting, or motivating, it can also create unnecessary pressure and even lead to social exclusion or bullying (especially among Japanese school kids).

[Summary] -Demon weak spot is the neck. They can only killed by special made sword ( Nichirin Sword ) n sunlight. - Nichirin Sword made by a special kind of steel that can absorb sunlight. That's why it can killed demons. Also known as "Color changing sword", its color depands on the wielder. - Basically demons as strong as the number of the human's they devoured. They gain power from that and even have supernatural ability. Demon's techniques call "Blood Demon Art" . - Demons dont band together as a rule. - Kibutsuji Muzan. The only one demon with the blood that can turn human into demons, the first ever demon, which is Tanjiro family's foe. - You can see through the episodes, Tanjiro have the ability to connect with the souls/spirit. - Every demon slayers got assigned a Kasugai Crow ( except the yellow boy you see was with a sparrow, didnt really explain about it in the stories so not about spoiled or something, but maybe we could talk about our thoughts later while dive more into the other character) , they are primarily for communications. - Total five survive through the final selection. - Nezuko recovering her strenght by sleeping instead of consume human flesh. So you can see she is asleep in overall the scenes. Before Tanjiro back from final selection, she slept for whole two years. -Tanjiro's sword is pitch black. Not often to see. So little is known about it.

-Total Concentration Breathing. Basically the concept is a technique that can enhanced human's ability to make them stronger and able to fight with demons. - Water Breathing ( style of breathing forms ) which Urokodaki holds and taught Tanjiro. It has ten forms in it. About each forms you can see it mentioned while Tanjiro fights. About the whole concept, you can see it like cutting vegetables/food in overall😂?? Just like the way of using knife, cutting, slicing, mincing, depands on different vegetables or meats also used different method, horizantal or vertical. Something like that. My kind of understanding n explanation if you want to make sense n easier understanding. Not too deep into it. 😂 - As Sabito said, Tanjiro sliced the biggest n toughest boulder of them All, that's why in the end he could cut off the morphed demon's head. Because his skills n techniques overall is more mature, n the form he choose to use on the bigger target is more suitable I think, not cutting down a whole big area of the protected hands on the neck spot but just the right part of it. And of course he has his special ability on the scent n the opening thread.

For your questions - about the dark area/shadow on the regular people's face, I would said it is just a normal thing in anime. Besides of the reason they are not the main character to focus on the scene, it represent for the negative emotion as well, like scared, stressed , angry... based on how they draw it. - Remember you also confused about the twins who welcome the demon slayers at the final selection, for their eyes, can just see them as the character design😂it is okay to not going too deep, but behind this "black hole like" eyes design/drawing, I believe it also means to bring some mysterious feeling for them, and for the audience.

Writer also did a great job on bringing the back story of the demons. They were once human too, like Nezuko, just got turn into demon. And I think you can find it interesting how the visual design of the demon connect to his backstory. For the morphed demon in the final selection, back then, he was a scaredy cat and used to hold his brother's hand, and the design of him as a demon was protected around with those hands. Some little details like that in anime is very engaging, makes you think of the behind meaning, of course some of it can be just for the visual tho.

Really enjoying these, thank you! * Remember how in the previous episode it was explained that the demons on that forest were captured alive for the Demon Slayer Corp exam that takes place there, so is not that Urokodaki wasn't able to kill it but he captured that demon alive & put it in confinement in the forest, hence him taking revenge particularly on his students. * All demons have a back story about their human past/how they became demons & normally the series always show that. * About the people in the background without faces, yes, characters that are not main may be drawn like that, this can also be done in anime to accentuate certain emotions, you'll get use to it!
