He usually calls IU “이유”😂 Yoo Jae-suk is not the only one — some people call her that as well. It’s basically a joke based on Korean naming conventions. In Korea, most names are three syllables long, with the first syllable being the family name and the last two being the given name. When people are close, they often drop the family name and call someone by only their given name. So some people jokingly treat “아이유” as if it were a Korean-style name, where “아” is the family name and “이유” is the given name, and casually call her “이유”
