Actually, all the Titans that were transformed in this episode have already been seen before.

I hope this makes things clear: Eldians and Marliyans are two different races. Eldians are all the people who can turn into a titan. They are oppressed by Marliyans. Also, the Ymir we know and the Ymir from the story are two different people sharing the same name.

Yes so with no spoilers, what we learn in this epsiode is that the subjects of Ymir (Not the same Ymir we know, its another one) are called the eldians, the eldians that we know from the start inside the walls and the eldians left are opressed in the the marlyn continent. The founding titan they are talking about is the titan that Eren has, if you remember in the past episodes it was explained that eren obtained the founding titan from his father who stole it from the royal family (the family that are decendents of the eldian king at the time) and its the same titan that can alter people's memory and control titans (as we learned in the epsiode of the Reiss (fritz) family !

1:05:47 The beard titan ate Eren shortly after that Eren became titan for the first time. Not only Zeke was playing with monkey but also I just paid attention to other toys: soldiers and horse. 😉 Dina said she's going to find Grisha no matter where he is, well she went straight into his house and ate his second wife.

It's interesting how many viewers don't immediately recognize what the armbands are referencing or seem surprised by how the Eldians are treated. I wanna know how much non-Europeans actually learn about events of WW2, especially about Jews and the Holocaust. When I saw the armbands, I immediately knew what's up. internment zone : in my country we went on school trips to visit former Jewish ghettos and concentration camps, so those references were immediately recognizable to me. the way the public officers treated Grisha, casually beating an Eldian in public without anyone really caring felt very familiar historically. That kind of violence wasn't shown as something shocking or unusual; it was just normal. I watched a full AOT reaction by German physicist and Dr of psychology (his channel name is storieswithstyle) and when the Eldians first appeared wearing armbands, he was basically like, "Well, of course they have armbands." In Germany, that symbolism is immediately recognizable because it's such a huge part of their history. He also talked about Ep 20 for 2,5 hours and how those public officers could spend the day abusing jews IRL and then just go home and live completely normal lives afterward. That's one of the scariest parts, it wasn't that every one of them was some unique monster. In the right circumstances, ordinary people can end up doing terrible things while convincing themselves they're just doing their job. It's very informative video and I recommend to check it out for yourself. That's why I don't see AOT as just another fantasy story. It's basically our own world, with real history, real people, and real patterns of behavior wrapped in a fictional setting. I think that's a big part of why those scenes hit so hard

Speaking of Ymir (Historia's friend), during her backstory there's a line that says, "A new life needs a new name." That tells us "Ymir" wasn't even her original name. She also claimed to be of royal blood, and the people who followed her called themselves the "Subjects of Ymir." We even hear that same term again from the talking Titan in Ilse's Notebook. Ymir was also punished by being injected with Titan serum and turned into a Pure Titan outside the Walls. Later, she told Bertholdt that she had wandered around for about 60 years, so her backstory took place roughly 60 years before the main story. That also suggests the group that worshipped her existed around that time. They weren't exactly the same as the Eldian Restorationists, but they were another underground Eldian group, more like a cult that used the name "Ymir" as a symbol.

What's crazy is that you can also see current day events reflected in this story, like Gaza and what's the Palestinians are suffering. The repeated cycle of violence and racism, the difference in narrative etc.. Aot is such a deep show.
