I know many people may disagree with me, but I can’t help thinking, “What if they had continued as the four members who were originally chosen?” If that had been the case, we might have been able to see their brilliant activities in their early to mid-thirties. Because of Seungri’s scandal, I’ve heard many stories about how deeply shocked the other members were when they learned about it through the news while they were in the military (and even without hearing those stories, it’s easy to imagine). The fandom was torn apart, and BIGBANG as a group ended up gaining an image of being something that deserved to be publicly condemned. Even now, when I think about how much suffering both BIGBANG and their fandom have gone through because of that one member who was originally eliminated, my heart aches.

I always see two main sentiments among newer VIPs when it comes to Seungri: either they detest him for what he's done, or they defend him and believe he's just a convenient scapegoat for the higher-ups. I'm not here to argue for either side, we are never going to know the full story anyway so there's really no point arguing about it. But as someone who has been a fan since 2008 along with my other close IRL friends, we all grew up listening to Bigbang and a lot of our memories as teenagers were associated with the group. While he was never any of our bias, we still enjoyed some of his solo works and of course his voice in the group. When the whole scandal broke out, we were extremely torn about the situation. In the end, we couldn't listen to Bigbang songs for years and stopped talking about them until they came back with Still Life. We didn't think Seungri betrayed us or that he's innocent, but rather we were just too disappointed to even talk about him. To put it in a more dramatic fashion, we mostly hated the fact that his acts, no matter intentional or unintentional, tarnished Bigbang's reputation because it almost felt as if a part of our youth were tainted as well (I mean, it's not that serious because we were really just casual fans but you know what I mean lol). What makes me really sad is that as you said, his actions hurt the members themselves (all of them were afraid of having their comebacks post-enlistment) and caused the fanbase to split, and now we constantly have to deal with OT5/OT4 debates which is so damn pointless. TOP touched on this in his new album - he missed the days where fans simply enjoyed the music they put out and not all this drama, and I agree with him 100%. I try not to think about the whole "What if there were only four?" situation because it's like crying over spilt milk, it's better for us to just come to terms with it, acknowledge his existence and contributions but not talk about him in anything involving their future plans because he is clearly walking on a different path from the other four. Welp, I hope that didn't sound overly sappy lmao

it would be fun watching you react to Troublemaker so you can see Hyunseung's growth!

Every time I rewatch this, I can't help but think: These boys all have a kind heart. Daesung and TOP got picked but they didn't show how happy they were because they knew one or two of the team would be eliminated. They were just kids and it's just natural for them to smile or even jump around but they did not.
