There are some mistranslations here send there that might have made the scene confusing. For example, they translated “she” as “you(Eugene)“ when referring to Ae-shin. So let me give you some context about the suit scene! (45:19–45:33) Hee-sung had realized from the conversation between the other two guys that Ae-sin had been carrying out dangerous missions in suits and that she has injured her leg. The tailor’s comment that the suit must have been too small for him was also a clue. When he says at the tailor shop that he wants to see who will have their eye on him in such a good-looking outfit, he actually means he wants to see who reacts to a man limping in that outfit, since only someone who saw Ae-shin in that situation would react. So he wore that suit, limping, and got caught by the other two guys. This is how the three men confirm that they all know what Ae-shin’s doing. Although Hee-sung comes across as a carefree playboy on the surface, this scene shows that he’s actually quite clever and does care about Aeshin a lot.

Lee Wan-ik is powerful, because he has Japan backing him. At the time, Japan was steadily tightening its control over Joseon, and collaborating with Japan was a way to survive, protect your wealth and status, or even gain more power. So even high-ranking officials had reasons to stay on his good side. Remember how Ae-shin’s parents were killed after their whereabouts were exposed by their own comrades who had turned traitor? This actually ties into the historical context. Pro-Japanese collaboration was becoming a deeply rooted problem in Joseon society, and these collaborators played a major role in betraying their own country and helping Japan take control of Joseon. Sorry for my long historical explanation, hope this helps☺️

I don't know why, but the scene where Aeshin and Ms. Haman fly the red pinwheel together gets me emotional every time. Maybe it's because, like you said, Ms. Haman is like a mother to Aeshin. Aeshin always seems so strong, but when she's with Ms. Haman, she can let her guard down and show her more vulnerable side. I think that's what makes the scene so touching. Having grown up without her parents, Ms. Haman must have been like family to Aeshin from the very beginning, someone she could always turn to. I think that scene captures their bond so beautifully, while also conveying how much Aeshin misses Eugene. As always, I love your Mr. sunshine reactions every week! Thanks for always making my week a little more fun! 🥰 Can't wait for the next one!
