Super small note: A lot of the names in AoT have German roots so Reiss (or in German it would be written as Reiß) is read kind of like the word "rice" in english with a sharp "s" at the end. Just like Eren's last name is Jaeger but it's read like "yeger" (or in German Jäger which means hunter)

Also small personal story, I graduated from a German highschool in my country and one of my teachers' last name was in fact Ackerman which was hysterical since I just started watching AoT around that time

The Blades the scouts use are meant to break like that, you'll notice they're segmented like boxcutters. That's so that if an attack fails or the blade gets stuck, the blade will break instead of the users arm breaking or getting stuck. That also why the scabbards hold so many spare blades :D

It had been so many years from the beginning of the series till these episodes, that I remember thinking "how did I never notice that Levi has the same last name as Mikasa man im so stupid". Didn't notice it was the first time they mentioned it until I rewatched a few years after.

One little detail since you mentioned it: the survey corps blades are meant to break. If you notice the design, they have this lines throughout the blade, those are meant to absorbe and release the excess of tension by breaking. Given the speeds at which they move with the odm gear, and the speed needed to get enough force to slash their weak point, if the cut isn't quite right and the blades got stuck in the titan body, that would rip off their arms at worst and mess the trajectory thus exposing them to the titan at best. It's all by design, which is also why it's so easy to just switch to the other pair of blades.

Also, I remember in the manga during the conversation they have about killing other humans, Levi had a great monologue which sadly was cut by wit studio. If your editor is familiar with the manga maybe he could show it to you so you don't risk getting spoiled

I'd say most Germans skew towards Air-veen actually ^^ The "Er" is quite fast but people tend to elongate the "win" part.
