Which OP was your favourite? Mine was tied between Guren no Yumiya and Shinzou wo Sasageyo!!

Disclaimer: I filmed this before you guys told me I have only finished Part 1 of Season 3 haha, so ignore any parts where I say "I've finished Season 3! 🤡"

ALSO, if y'all wanted me to follow my Jojo's format where I react to the OP alongside the episodes, let me know. I'd like to react to the variation JUST before it switches to the next one (I'd be relying on you guys to tell me when it's about to switch!)

My best guess is that these animals were probably never taught about inside the walls and now i guess they are charging with knowledge (Pure speculation, i literally have 0 clue 😭😭😭), because Ymir called the beast titan a "Monkey" and Eren was like "The hell is a monkey"

Wonderful reaction and analysis as always! I love how you picked up on the callbacks to earlier songs especially in the Linked Horizon one's as they often do that in their AOT songs. The lyrics for Last Titan are actually a callback to every opening that came before it, even one's that weren't done by Linked Horizon "Let loose like an arrow (OP 1: Guren No Yumiya) the slave that once dreamt of freedom (OP 2: Jiyuu no Tsubasa) watched many offered hearts pass on ( OP 3: Shinzou wo Sasageyo) a bird drenched in red (OP 4: Red Swan) The path paved with corpses (OP 5: Shoukei to Shikabane no Michi) on the heels of war (OP 6: My War) with the rumbling of earth in tow" (OP 7: The rumbling). for the second verse in the full version they also make references to every ED as well. I love how it is a culmination and celebration of the anime with the band that started it all, closing it out as well. I highly recommend revisiting the OP's and ED's once you complete the series and giving the full songs a listen with lyrics, because with full context, I don't think any other series does a better job of utilizing their lyrics and visuals to serve the narrative of it's show and it's characters. It provides such a wonderful insight on the world and its characters, as well as all the little foreshadowings and easter eggs hidden throughout some of the earlier ones. Would love if this could be a reaction video in the future though it might wind up being very long.

the rumbling and under the tree have to be my favourite openings, although i'm biased cause i love that style of music haha. red swan as well. also apparently the name "red swan" is a homage to mikasa and her love for eren cause swans mate for life, and red like the colour of her scarf aw

the birds in the sky have been a recurring symbol of freedom throughout the anime, often depicted flying freely over the walls as a juxtaposition to the inability of those captive within the walls to freely traverse the land and go beyond the walls. however, in "my war," birds are shown dying and falling out of the sky, showing how this idea of 'freedom' is no longer viable, as the death and destruction caused by the humans on the ground is even enough to reach the skies where the birds who were once thought to be so free are not safe from the claws of human arrogance and selfishness. a blimp is also shown flying higher than a flock of birds showing how freedom was never an inherent trait but a prize to be claimed. but at what cost? theres also the crushed butterfly at the end of "the rumbling" with the most important detail being the broken wing.

My hot take is My War being my favorite op. I just love how they went full on with the eerie and uncomfortable rather than a epic or dramatic vibe, it comes fully as shock and that's perfect since every character in the series is seeing the world they know fall apart so fast

the animation studio changed in season 4; it went from WiT (they did animes like spy x family and vinland saga s1) to MAPPA (animes like jjk, chainsaw man, vinland saga s2) and mappa did use cgi more often for large scale animation like the titans. either that or mappa's cgi is more noticeable LOL

Technically, sure. But it's not like the entire plot is spoiled if you don't know it beforehand. You gotta remember that we know how to interpret stuff because we know where things are headed. Steph doesn't have that knowledge.

Definitely a choice. Not the biggest fan of it. Especially the pausing and the analyzing felt unnecessary. I'm guessing it's for additional engagement. the reaction to the opening attracts viewers and these people will watch the reaction of the actual show and yada yada. I guess there's some meta about this type of content that we're unaware of and that she has to respect, idk. I don't have that big an issue with it, just a little dumbfounded because it comes at a cost I am slightly displeased with as a viewer. (but in all honesty, I wouldn't be surprised if she'd already been at least a little spoiled on some story beats anyway...maybe not, who knows, but aot being the show it is, it'd be pretty hard to avoid some of them when you're active on social media and exposed to comments) so yeah, not a fan.

So once you finish s3 you should watch the Attack on titan Suite by Hiroyuki Sawano, the composer of them. It's almost a one-take recording session of s1-3's most iconic OST's. He plays the piano in the video. S4's composer Kohta Yamamoto is one of the musicians there too and he plays the synth

A reminder that I’ve done the very same thing with Jojo’s! Also, the majority of this is pure theory crafting as I’m lacking context for the later seasons. Whilst I appreciate your opinion, it’s a shame you felt my analysis and pausing felt unnecessary, as I personally feel like that’s what I enjoy most about reacting to OPs

I do appreciate the pausing and analyzing you do in the episodes themselves, just not here when you're watching things out of order. And also not for OPs tbh, since OPs often contain hints about upcoming events and can be considered safe only because they go by so quickly that you can’t really make out what’s being shown. The episodes themselves were specifically crafted so we'd theorize and have a hard time predicting things even with the little cues the show leaves. But when you do things out of order obviously it's not gonna be the same. And yes you did do this for Jojo but the timing was different since you did this before starting the show with 0 context + you did not pause to analyze (nearly as much) + Jojo is a pretty different type of show where the different parts are more self-contained stories. But as I said, it's not that big a deal to me. I just don't think analyzing future OPs for AOT at this specific point in the show benefits a first time watching experience, that's all. in the end if that's how you want to view it then that's your choice.

Love that you reacted to the openings we've seen so far, but I really wish you didn't watch future season's openings. The way attack on titan's story develops is really satisfying, so seeing hints about future turn of events doesn't really sit right with me.

Im gonna say it, but not watching the opening that have heavy spoiler was the best idea to enjoy the show at first but watching the openings halfway having a lot of context and knowing already so much is the best way to ruin your experience :/
