Correct me if I am wrong but I believe that this is the first giallo horror film you have watched on this channel. Well, neo-giallo. Gurl, there is an entire WORLD of horror films (giallos) that you haven't even tapped yet! Some of the most lush and stylish and beautiful AND sleazy and violent horror movies you will EVER see. A lot of people here have recommended SUSPIRIA (the original from the 70's). That is an excellent place for you to start. It's giallo adjacent but one of the most common places that Americans start when discovering the horror films of Italy from the 70's / 80's. MALIGNANT also somehow exists in the brief but distinctive mid-90's / early 2000's DARK CASTLE ENTERTAINMENT sub-genre. If you've seen enough of them (the remake of HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL, the only one I really like) you'll recognize the vibe and occasional visuals. I'm so excited for you to watch SUSPIRIA one day!

She's one of the leads of HELLRAISER 3: HELL ON EARTH, a series I think you'll be brave enough to...well...brave, soon (and then promptly stop at part 3 because THEE Weinsteins bought the franchise and immediately drove it into the ground). At least I hope you are. No joke, HELLRAISER and Hellraiser 2, the uncut versions (there is no point in watching them as anything other than uncut) are hardcore as hell BUT they are amazing, poetic, imaginative, subversive, masterpieces of horror cinema.

Atlanta resident here, I've never been to Seattle but Atlanta is the same way. Current parts of Atlanta are built on top of an old Atlanta that technically sits at the real street level. It spans about 12 acres. It's called Underground Atlanta. Much of it is closed off now for safety but you can still tour it and it still operates as an entertainment location and venue which pays homage to its historical roots as an entertainment district. 💜

The opening credits, the scene transitions, the characters in the police force, everything was like an NCIS episode dialed up to 20 (which ironically is very similar to Saw, so James Wan definitely has a genre he likes.) . The twist explaining every single thing before, James Wan did his BIGGEST one with this.

Okay this movie is so fun I'm so glad you watched. Also random, but if you pause at just the right moment in the police station fight scene you see Regina's stunt double fighting Gabriel and it is so hilarious not even remotely close to looking like her. They simply said "that'll do" and did not look any further for a similar face/body double, it's so funny and clearly not the same actress. Always makes me giggle.

Anyone seen the 1982 film Basket Case? I feel like they were probably inspired by that film. Never seen this one past the first five minutes (the dialogue was not the greatest and seemed like it was going to go downhill) till now. I have to say it feels like a bigger budget version of a monster b-movie. Unfortunately I figured out what it ended up being pretty early on from the not-so-subtle hints, but it wasn't terrible. I had fun. Would I have watched this without Alanda's commentary to make it bearable? Probably not. 😋
