Howdee fine patrons! We hope you are well. :) Work continues on the next ERB, but  EpicLLOYD has found time to go through your MTB match-up ideas.

So, lets see what he thought of the lucky seven picks... [the theme this time was gaming based so a few of the ideas relate to that theme]

Note: please vote for your favorite idea at: https://www.patreon.com/posts/54137909

Jerry Springer vs Vince McMahon [submitted by Paddy]

All in all I think this match-up is odd. I don't see the connection between these two and I'm not sure they have enough to really align to create a beef for a battle. I feel it would leave most viewers scratching their heads and I don't think they'd be wrong for doing so.

Duke Nukem vs John Wayne [submitted by Tuff]

This is pretty fun. Clint Eastwood is really close to John Wayne for me but it's been a while and they are pretty different in a lot of way including era. Duke Nukem seems like a great choice for gamers. He's a classic. But still not sure either of these characters would make into a battle but upon first glance this matchup is certainly a smiler.

Captain America vs Captain Picard [submitted by J-Star]

I like this. Colorful and rich with jokes and details. Picard is so different than Captain Kirk that I think viewers could stand another Star Trek episode and Captain America shows up so well in the Avengers movies that I have a newfound love for him. I like.

Mega Man vs Astro Boy [submitted by Vivian & Dragonsblood23]

Mega Man has been a good choice for a while. I liked that game a lot and his vibe lines up with ERB a lot. I don't know Astro too well but seems like even on a blind taste test would have a ton of fun backstory and history. I think I'd enjoy writing this one.

Minecraft Steve vs Frank Lloyd Wright [submitted by Cheske & MarblePipes]

More like Meh-craft amiright?!!! I know the game is huge. I don't care. It was always boring as hell to me. And combining it with Frank Lloyd Wright worsens it for me. HE IS A BESMIRCH UPON THE NAME LLOYD!!!

Hideo Kojima vs Todd Howard [submitted by FoxDoc, Neo & Paddy]

I love the idea of a battle of video game makers. It's actually kind of more interesting to me than using the video game characters themselves. For me this reeks of a potential cavalcade ERB. A bunch of different game designers and these guys could certainly be included. But as a straight head to head I think it might leave a bit to be desired though.

The Predator vs Chris Hansen [submitted by GlenOck]

I like one of these. And I see the connection. But imagining myself writing jokes about child predators, even if it's about catching them, makes my skin crawl. Also, I don't think most people would know the name Chris Hansen just on first glance. Let's match The Predator up with an alien or something like that. Would be way more fun and less of a headache.

A few extra thoughts from our manager HeadMonk...

Captain America vs Captain Picard feels like the standout idea of this round. It's a clean pairing with lots of scope and a nice strong Pete vs Lloyd idea. I realise some fans say things like 'we don't need more comic book characters' but they always offer such a bountiful supply of material to work with.

I'm gonna disagree with Lloyd about Hideo Kojima vs Todd Howard and say I'd rather see more video game characters in ERB than see us do a game developer based battle. It's not a bad idea. It's got potential, it should poll well, but it just doesn't excite me personally.

I actually like Jerry Springer vs Vince McMahon partly because its not got much of a connection other than well known TV names who orchestrate fights on camera. I think there'd be a lot of potential to write a really fun battle with a lot of chaos in the video too. We can sometimes place too much emphasis on connections but, if it's fun who cares.

I've never played Minecraft but Steve in an ERB could probably get a lot of fans excited. But I'm not sure most of those same people would get excited about Frank Lloyd Wright. It's like the opposite of Springer vs McMahon, the connection maybe drains the fun out of it.

A new round of MAKETHISBATTLE now begins!!

The theme this time is "Toon Tunes". We'll be looking out specifically for a few matchups that could work well as a future animated battle. It could be characters known for being animated or real life individuals who might work well in an animated format. Bonus points for thinking outside the box.

You can of course always ignore the theme completely if you prefer. But, when selecting the match-ups for feedback we will select 2 or more suggestions that suit the theme.

Same rules apply. Seven match-ups in total will be selected. Three suggestions per person. You can post them in the comments below, email them to erbpatreon@gmail.com or post them on the Discord server in the dedicated '#make-this-battle' channel.

Deadline for submissions is... 5pm PT on Wednesday 11th August.

Animated... in Lego specifically? Because I don't think y'all have done any traditionally-animated battles, have you? If we're thinking Lego, then... Minecraft Steve kind of *has* to be it, right? Versus a representative of the actual Lego brand (like the guy from The LEGO Movie). Although haven't Pete and Lloyd done that specific idea in Dan Bull's rap battle?

Open to ideas that suit other forms of animation not just Lego

Bubonic

Power Puff Girls vs Team Rocket Optimus Prime vs Iron Man

Charles Lee

Lupin the 3rd vs The Grinch (professional thief vs someone who stole Christmas) Popeye the Sailor Man vs Sailor Moon Omni-Man vs One Punch Man

James A. Whitney

Minecraft Steve can't be it. There's nothing there to rap against or with.

Let's get the obvious one out of the way: Bugs Bunny vs Mickey Mouse!

Team RWBY vs The Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers..... Or maybe Voltron Force.

Paul McGinty

Power rangers v powerpuff girls

Mason Rose

Aang the Avatar vs James Cameron's Avatar

Or maybe a three-way battle between Power Rangers, Powerpuff Girls, and RWBY!

Red Claw

Garfield vs Snoopy The Mask vs Carl Jung Duffy Duck vs Donald Duck (with Howard the Duck)

MichaelVSTheWorld

John Marston (Red Dead Redemption) vs Sheriff Woody (Toy Story)

George

It might hit a little too close to reality, but for a toon battle, Mexican stereotype Speedy Gonzalez vs Gun Loving Southerner Yosemite Sam... Based on a cartoon but with a live action version coming out soon, you could have a Spike Spiegel from cowboy bebop versus Dog the bounty hunter

Jacob Marinak

Avatar Aang vs. Dmitri Mendeleev And just for fun: Ed, Edd, and Eddy vs. the Heathers (from the 80's movie)

Leo M. R.

Not fully animated, but maybe a combination of live-action and animation? Shaggy and Scooby-Doo vs. Steve and Blue, with the humans being portrayed by Pete and Lloyd (Pete could pull off a fantastic Shaggy!) and the dogs being animated.

Leo M. R.

Actually, just to suggest something that's not the obvious idea: Mickey Mouse vs. Mario. The face of cartoons vs. the face of video games, animated in Golden Age of Animation-style vs. 8- or 16-bit sprite work. A battle between the two animated media! You could then have Mickey tag in other animated characters from different franchises (Bugs Bunny is an obvious choice, and so are classics like Popeye) and Mario can do the same with video game characters (Sonic the Hedgehog of course, and maybe even Pac-Man). If you so choose, you could even bring in more modern representations of both (like Woody or Elsa for modern animations, and Minecraft Steve for modern games). It's an animated battle, aye? So you can go as wild with the characters as you want!

I know it's past the deadline, but I only just thought of it: Papa Smurf vs Twilight Sparkle. I thought of this because of an MLP episode where the ponies encounter Starlight Glimmer's Town, which is basically Communist, and the ponies see their society as looking nice on the surface, but evil under closer inspection. The Smurf Village has often been considered Communism shown in a positive light. It would be interesting to see the leader of a pro-communist cartoon society go up against the leader of an anti-communist cartoon society.

I feel like a lot of people know who Chris Hansen is, but yeah, I feel like even though its a humorous idea, I wouldn't feel all to comfortable writing jokes like that either
