Are we getting early audio for the upcoming battle today too? :)

Main takeaway from this round is just that I'm glad Columbo's on the table. I'll support just about anything that gets him in, he'd be the perfect type of character to bring to life in ERB format

Robert V Aldrich

Where do we nominate? I want to see Belicek vs Bear Bryant

All look fun, but hercule poirot or the Merlin/Arthur tag team ones look best to me

Leo M. R.

My favorite of these is hands-down Pinocchio vs. Astro Boy. Not only do they thematically match very well (without being carbon copies of each other), they're terrifically historic to Western and Eastern pop culture respectively. Plus, Pinocchio is so 'in' right now with all the movies that's coming out. And come on, imagine working in 'When You Wish Upon A Star' into an ERB!

Connor Rankin

Liz Truss vs William Henry Harrison

I would like to see Amelia Earhart vs Manfred von Richthofen

Any chance we can update this poll to a “Vote for ANY you are interested in?” 😅 It’s so hard to choose just one, and I can tell it’s not just me. A poll like that could at least keep some of the BANGER matchups from falling to the wayside, just because of bad timing against MEME suggestions. 😝 (ie, There’s NO WAY Naruto vs Oda Nobunaga only has 3% of our interest!)

Foxdoc

What constitutes a "meme" suggestion in this lineup, might I ask?

Alvin Franco

No offense to King Arthur or Merlin, but I’m pretty sure Rick and Morty are carrying those votes. And while I don’t know much about Poirot or Columbo, I’m pretty sure those Shaggy Power Level memes are behind that matchup’s success. They’ve definitely taken the character in a bizarre direction, then reintroduced him to an audience that doesn’t even care about Scooby Doo, just the meme. (His entire shtick in the Multiversus game is to fight like a Super Saiyan!!!)

Alvin Franco

I mean, I COULD be wrong. But there were SO many great suggestions this time! As a particular fan of anime, it was really hard to pick a favorite. I went with Sailor Moon v Neil Armstrong, (Sounds hilarious! Unique angle. Solid, unexpected connection that brings in two drastically different characters, and solidly lands in the territory that ERB specializes in.) BUT, Luffy v Jack Sparrow, Naruto v Nobunaga, Astro Boy v Pinnochio, those are SOLID! But I fear that after this poll, they’re gonna forever look like crap and no one’s gonna take those suggestions seriously again. (Which is… understandable. Lots of anime suggestions can be a wee bit cringe…) But these are among the best I’ve ever seen! Most are solid, with nothing but a personal bias to sway the savvy anime voters, dividing their numbers. Imagine if they could vote for their second or 3rd favorite, I’m certain those middling suggestions would sky rocket. Instead, the 1-vote only system predictably leans people toward the suggestions that include internet meta-joke characters, regardless of how obscure their opponents are. (By the way, even the “Meme” suggestions are solid. NOT dissing on them! I will never underestimate Shaggy’s power! 😏 I’m just bothered by the bell curve this time around.)

Okay, I voted for the detectives, but I would love to see Sailor Moon or Light Yagami as well!

Thomas Paine

Spider-Man vs Light Yagami is a better matchup for Light. Truly would be an epic battle.

Foxdoc

I have to politely disagree with your assessment. While I'm personally not a Rick and Morty fan, nor am I interested to see Rick Sanchez rapping, I think the major selling point of that matchup is "All-Powerful Teachers and Awkward Pupils." I don't think it's unreasonable to like that dynamic. As for Shaggy. Shaggy has been a beloved character for fifty odd years. He's known around the world and he has a strong character presence. To say that the aspect that carries him is the memes is disingenuous. Hercule Poirot and Columbo, titans in their own right, provide excellent foils to his character. ...Which is why I'm one of the folks who suggested it for this round. I'm a big Columbo fan, you see. ;)
