In the last ERB quiz a bunch of you won ERB memorabilia prizes (and should have received those packages in the post last month) but we totally forgot to do a poll for the patron who won the chance to select seven matchup ideas. 

Apologies to Anthony Buckley. But better late than never, right! ;)

Doesn't seem to be the right kind of match-up to me. Palpatine is a supreme leader, Voldemort is a powerful and scary boogeyman of sorts in the world of HP. Orochimaru is a powerful and scary boogeyman in his world (Naruto). Now who's the more successful? Palpatine and Nero both were emperors of their respective empires, both empires fell and both can be considered to be behind its ultimate downfall with their leadership. Palpatine even had a kind of "scorched earth" contingency in place if he were to die. That's the gist of my reasons

It seems like exactly the right matchup to me. Both are obsessed with immortality preserving their life having all kinds of failsafes for when they “die”, both are obsessed with being the most powerful, both use manipulation in more ways than one to maintain their power and influence
