Be Honest - which version would you prefer we do a commentary of? The Extended cuts are available alongside the regular runtimes on HBO Max.

REALISTICALLY - which would you enjoy more / would be easiest for you to enjoy? We realize super fans will WANT IT ALL but... is 4 hours too long for most of you guys? We can't decide - Let us know, cast your vote!!

RetroJohan

On my HBO Max it is the regular version

ithappenb4

I only have access to the extended version. I don't see how I can watch with the commentary if it's not extended. There is no other way to watch it

Slckwitit

What about the lore? So extended, it’ll be my first exposure to lord of the rings

Joel (Joellleon)

Gotta extend. Can always pause and come back later if it is too long

ATOMIC CHORIZO

I love democracy, I love the republic... wait wrong movie.

@CreepyKretins

I know I said the extended version was long, but hell yeah a WHOLE dub of it? I’m in if you guys are

Daniel Deveau

I wish there was an easy way to keep things synced up. Starting and just playing a dub is easy, but pausing and coming back gets tricky. I don't know if I'd ever see the end of this one.

Samuel Angeli

To be honest I'm torn, i do want it all but 4 hours?

ATOMIC CHORIZO

Christopher Lee knew JRR Tolkien, in fact Tolkien said if lotr was adapted to film he wanted Lee to play gandalf.

Drew D

4hours feels long af but if that ends up winning maybe a intermission plus a resync in the middle? Ya boi's gotta pee and restock those snacks, ya'mean?

llama

Ok I know you patron's want the extended versions, but if I may? we did just do an 8 movie Harry Potter series and I and many others don't really have the time for 3 - 4 hour long movies I'm just saying. buuuuut we will see what people vote for.

Fartooloud

Looks like you're doing the extended cuts

BlackSuit421

Wow 4 hours.... :0 You do what you got to do haha :-) ps More Movies!!! :-) <3

kaijukyle

Extended editions are so much better.

kaijukyle

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe at the beginning set a designated time to pause. I know the Blu Rays make you switch discs at a certain point to continue the movie

hughhoney618

Ooh! This is a good idea. A good ol intermission and resync.

JizzleDoops

All for the extended version with an intermission like others have mentioned. Could always just make it 2 tracks for the sake of the resync. I know others who did the same thing basically cut off the 1st half right after the protags left Rivendell (the elf city). That's the halfway point and it feels natural to take a break there.

kaijukyle

I have both versions on mine

KB Scoot

The best lines will come from those extra scenes. It gets really goofy af!

BigBoss

Damn the extended is almost 4 hours lol I have never watched these movies before. But I am ready to go on this big ass commentary journey with the jaboody Bois 💪🏼

David Ortiz

Hell yeah EXTENDED CUT!!!

Clifford Romoser

If the Rifftrax guys couldn't make Lord of the Rings interesting to watch, I'm afraid you guys won't be able to either. The movie is just sooooo boring.

WoodenHooligan90

Take intermediate breaks. EXTENDED GANG OGTFO!!!

jaboodydubs

Extended Cut is a different video in HBO Max library. They have Fellowship up as two different movies basically.

jaboodydubs

Its lookin EXTENDO bois, and we are totally down!!

RetroJohan

Nope, Swedish HBO don't have the extended cut at this moment. I double checked.

CherrieBombx

Holy shiiiiit! I’ve been waiting for you guys to do these movies. They’re my favorite. I’m soooo hyped!

Like_Fahrenheit

LOTR are my favorites movies. I have the Blu-rays of the extended cuts which are split into 2 discs each, so I'll have to resync at some point (or twice depending on if you guys do an intermission, not a problem for me personally). I would absolutely love either version, but being such a huge fan of these movies, I would be ecstatic if you guys did extended, too. Having said that, the whole extended trilogy is roughly 11 or so hours (including credits). So obviously I can't speak for you guys if you prefer to do the shorter theatrical versions (and I wouldn't blame you). PS. the hobbit also has extended versions, but I don't think those are on HBO Max yet

Melon Head

I’ll be honest, I’ve never seen the extended version, so this would give me a reason actually sit down and watch it.

Drunkz

it has to be extended mode to be fully immersed in the RP :)

Antonio

If it ain't extended it ain't Lord of the Rings.

Xynix

Better get some extra snacks and drinks by doing this one, because It's worth to do the extended version.

SneakyOptix

If you go with extended, you can always film each one into 2 parts. That'll make 6 recordings and would give y'all a break!

Megatto

For people who live outside the US, if you use a VPN you can watch the extended version on HBO Max

Jonathan Rivas

Lord of the rings is like Harry Potter, it's a journey that's full of world-building. So you got to do it right, go full in and do that extended cut! (and honestly, some scenes are explained through some of the extended cuts so hopefully, it'll minizine the "what happened to _______?" questions).

PURENINJA0

I only watch the extended editions. I can’t ever watch the theatrical versions again.

ThinkClint

Honestly, it IS long, but extended is the way to go. I feel like this trilogy is one of those rare occasions where you guys could split each movie into two separate watch-alongs for 6 dubs total. Then it’s a more manageable 2 hours-a-sitting. Would require extra work to manage syncing issues, but LotR is worth it imo.

Hank Greenburg

The movies are legendary enough to warrant the FULL commentaries.

chris reeves

I just watched these back to back recently. Yea they’re long but it’s amazing how the extra scenes give a little clarity especially return of the king. There’s extra shit in that movie that really helps the narrative! Enjoy guys!

Doogs345

I get doing the full extended versions. But all the streaming versions on the regular release right? So doesn't make sense to do the Regular versions. Unless you can stream the Extended versions somewhere than I yeah Extended Versions

Doogs345

Sorry I just saw the in the subject the extended are on HBO Max..lolol I should read next time lol

KV

I mean if we're going to do LOTR might as well go ham with the extended cut

Dante Means

12 Hours total? Let's f-ing do this.

PHASMA77

The extended cuts are so much better, there is a ton of cool scenes that tie the movies together.

Samuel Ellis

Really hope you dudes do the extended! But whichever you do, thank you for all the hours of laughter and escapism you provide.

@CreepyKretins

I wonder if you guys would be up for doing spoof movies, like airplane and Spaceballs? If anything you guys should check out revenge of the nerds one day, has some weird stuff happen in it that wouldn't fly in today's world🤣

dontpokethebear3893@gmail.com

I do not recommend extended for a first time viewing but nevertheless this shit will be hella f*cking epic.
