hell yea,now you see why this my fav one so far, these battles pop off hard, this is easily the best of the trilogy, the bloody deaths were only in the extended version which is Rated R,the extended versions are waaay better, these battles give me chills and Legolas being a badass and tha MLG video game quick time event battle in the beginning to save Gandalf was so cool and my fav scene,I remember in the theaters me pogging with surprise watching this and I already love it,this is the hobbit version of Avengers infinity war,HP: Deathly hallows part 2, Return of the king and revenge of the Sith combined,a little fun fact:the original title for this movie was: there and back again just like in the book but peter jackson had to changed it to the battle of the five armies cuz he felt that one was a bad fit cuz bilbo has already arrived there👍👍😱😱😃😃🗡️⚔️♥️❤️

The extended edition is rated R for violence. Adapting a children's book into an R rated film was certainly a choice. Billy Connolly, who plays Ironfoot, had health issues (Parkinson’s I think), which is why he was cg. Tolkien did write much more for Middle-earth, primarily The Silmarillion. But only The Hobbit and lord of the rings film rights were sold. If the Tolkien Estate ever sells the film rights for the book, the story of the Silmarils (holy jewels) and a lot of the First Age stories could be adapted (probably difficult to do). The First Age doesn't have the rings of power, no wizards, no hobbits. It's mostly about elves fighting Morgoth for thousands of years and has a very mythical air to it. if I remember correctly there's hardly any humor, but it's full of tragedy, epic romance, and battles that would make the battle of five armies look tame by comparison. There's even a scene where Sauron in the form of a wolf gets his ass kicked by a talking dog. There is the Tolkien biopic that came out several years ago. Haven't seen it though. One more tidbit, the big ass orc that tossed around Gandalf at the beginning was originally supposed to be Bolg (the orc Legolas fights), the design anyway.

Balin(joe Byron dwarf) did visit bilbo later on before he went to reclaim the mines of moria where he and some of the others died in the tomb room.

Yup, I'm definitely re-watching the LOTR commentaries now

Boredbomber

Still don't know why the Hobbit series got some hate. Loved every minute of them. Glad you guys did commentary tracks!

I don't think I've seen the extended edition for this before, but man those battles were insane. So many huge popoff moments. Makes me want to start up the trilogy immediately after...

Hank Greenburg

Oh yeah as other people are saying, I saw the PG-13 normal version which made the fights much less cool. Rated R is the only way to go for LOTR stuff I swear

Boys, u are more magical than anything J.R.R. Tolkien could have written. U made the impossible, u got me to love the Hobbit trilogy. I am a big fan of LOTR but I always considered Hobbit to be a moneygrab... Maybe because I saw the normal versions that aired at the cinema, who knows... But this one was amazing. Insane doesn't do the war scenes justice. Thank you for bringing the magic that I couldn't find on my first viewing, I feel much like Thorin getting a redemption arc.

Will See

Woah this movie was so good!

jaboodydubs

Right?! MAN these were all a great watch.

jaboodydubs

Honestly kicking ourselves for not seeing these flicks earlier. Glad you had fun with us dude!

Moviejunkie

If you guys are sad about no more LOTR than you should see the animated Hobbit from Rankin bass and Lord of the Rings from Ralph Bakshi. The first is a whimsical telling of the book and the LOTR movie is trippy and wild but worth a watch.

@CreepyKretins

I can't believe how good bombir was, I could watch and entire movie about him 😂
