I saw this in theaters when it came out! I’m surprised Justin didn’t catch the reference when Marty says, “We are not who we are.” That’s the line that the scientist says on camera in the “The Thing” style X-files episode that Justin talked about on the twitch stream last week.

this is a good movie,I like the concept of it and pre chris hemsworth before he became the god of thunder in his prime,this is your first chris hemsworth movie,there’s alot of easter eggs that I have to look up and its cool and the black guy screaming at the monster chaos sounded like a meme scream like in every video game LOL 😂

Great movie, glad you picked it! Unfortunately, goes out of sync with the retail release even though the runtime is exactly the same. For instance, if I sync up your reaction to the SFX stab of the title (2:46), then your reaction to the guy getting stabbed through the neck (1:01:07) is 4 seconds late. Not sure if Max got a different cut or if maybe you buffered while recording

It’s definitely one where you either hate it or love it. I had a blast the first time I saw it. 2nd watch less so because you know what’s coming.

I just read some great theories about this movie. That the evil gods are interfering throughout the movie, creating all the glitches and whispering to Marty, to make the ritual fail. Because the organisation is trivialising it, joking about it, taking bets, and not offering proper sacrifices. Their "virgin" starts out literally having just had an affair with her teacher, they had to drug a guy to turn him into the jock "athlete" even though he's an academic. The gods are insulted and no longer placated. The other was that WE are the gods, the murders are literally happening for our entertainment, and their movie world ends when the movie ends and stops existing. And we go back to our lives, no longer placated by the fiction.

One random thing to add, if you guy's like, there is a board game that's very similar to to the experience in this move. "Betrayal at the house on the Hill". Plays 3-6 players, and easy to learn. Abandoned house and multiple Haunts that can happen. Highly recommend if you guys wanna play something physical together.

Yeah it's the best on your first watch through for sure, but I've enjoyed watching it each time (I think I've seen it 3 times now?). I wonder if Pops' opinion on it changed after this viewing or not.

Fun fact: The redneck zombie family (The Buckners) was based off of a real life family during the 1800's called The Bloody Benders, who would lure unsuspecting travelers into their house, offer them a bed and breakfast, and kill them while they were eating at the dinner table.

Fantastic movie, fun dub, although I was surprised that Justin and Lewie (somewhat) were so lukewarm about it. It's really clever tongue-in-cheek love letter to horror movies, with some wicked practical effects (behind the scenes stuff on this flick are worth checking out); glad Pops loved it though!

Yeah I really thought they'd be blown away by it; maybe if they'd caught it on their own and gave it all their attention without dubbin', but hey, if it didn't hit 'em right then it didn't.
