Patreon Billing Changes (Patreon)

Hello you lovely people!So, many of you may already be aware that Patreon has some upcoming changes to how billing works. In short, creators who are currently using Pay-Per-Creation or billing at the start of each month (like I have been since launching this Patreon back in November 2020) are being moved over to Patreon’s standard monthly subscription model at the start of November. Basically, you’ll be charged on the day you first subscribe, then on that same date each month going forward, like any other typical subscription.

I’ll be making the switch myself on Friday, 30th of October, rather than leaving it to Patreon’s automated switchover when a huge number of other pages will be moving over at the same time.

Obviously I wanted to make everybody aware of this and what it means for this little corner of Patreon going forward.

For existing supporters, nothing changes.

You’ll continue to be billed on the 1st of each month, exactly as you are now. There's nothing you need to do, so it's business as usual.

The change mainly affects new supporters. Under the current system, new supporters are charged when they join and then on the 1st of each month afterwards. Under the new system, they’ll instead be charged on the same date each month.

There will be one slight change, and that is how Monthly Exclusives are delivered:

Going forward, instead of receiving a private message at the start of every month from me with the discount codes, there will be links in the Monthly Exclusive Release post for you to click.

Other things

There may be a few other benefits to moving over to the standard subscription model, such as yearly memberships (nearly 6 years so far and I have no intention of giving it up anytime soon!) and a handful of other little things. I’ve always tried to keep this Patreon as straightforward and unconvoluted as possible though, so we’ll see whether any of them end up being useful!

Also, after being prodded by several members over the years, I’ve finally added a UHD4K Supporter Tier. It’s exactly the same as the normal UHD4K Tier, just more expensive.

Why? Because apparently some of you want to shower me with material wealth.

And yes, I do appreciate it immensely!

On the subject of 6 years, towards the back end of November I’ll be running the usual Anniversary Sale. This time it’ll be 60% off everything on DriveThruRPG, so a good time to pad out any missing maps you’ve been holding out for.

So, yeah... aside from the billing change and a bit of shameless self-shilling, it’s a bit of a non-post, but still something I wanted to make you all aware of.

If you’re already supporting me before this change, you’ll continue to be billed on the 1st of each month as usual. Nothing changes! The only difference is that monthly exclusives will now be linked in the release post at the start of each month rather than sent through a private message.
