After looking over some of the pitches, our swordsman protagonist is finally here. Introducing, Cassian. Cassian was one a pirate who sailed across the sea of sand, known as a Dune Raider, but splintered off from his crew the moment the moment a map was found. Seeking to forge his own legacy, he stole it from his captain, and ran off into the night in hopes of getting his own crew together and making history.

I've started working on his low poly model, though it may be a bit before you see it. However, we now have two whole party members. But we need another before I believe I can give the greenlight on accepting pitches for other characters.

What I think we need is, to put it loosely, a "freak". A character who isn't human. Some examples of what I mean:

Morgana (Persona 5)

Riki (Xenoblade Chronicles)

Robo (Chrono Trigger)

Red XIII (Final Fantasy)

Given that it's almost a staple of the genre, I think having some kind of non-human character would really help flesh out our world further. I have my own ideas, but I want to hear some of yours.

Are we leaning towards an animal? A construct of some kind? An entity unique to the world? What exactly is going to be our distinct "freak" that helps really sell the whimsy of the world?

For the "Freak" I lean towards Construct myself. Really like the idea of a relic from a time before the Dunes were so rampant that's been repaired with currently existing tech. But in that same breath, doesn't have to be a clanker. Or doesn't even need to come from the distant past, could be a modern creation made to withstand a particular inhospitable place or withstand an Blight those of flesh and blood are weak too!
