Around 2011 is when I started 3D modeling. Specifically for MikuMikuDance, as I was a young little weeb that was super into VOCALOID and really wanted to be able to make my own OCs or characters as a 3D model and animate or pose them. MMD being the only free, rather straightforward software I knew about. A lot of these never hit the internet, or if they did, only lasted a brief while as around that time I encountered some issues with an online stalker harassing my brothers and I so I nuked everything.

Most of these models were lost to a hard drive failure in 2012.

Remember nyan cat? The song is sung by an UTAU (Momone Momo) so it was very exciting to see UTAU content from an artist I liked become a well known meme. Kind of.

This model was made in sculptris. Which. Sculpts in tris. Hence the name. It is a MESS and I'm amazed I even got a rig out of such a chaotic mesh with no proper loops or topology.

Older than the puppy model. But definitely one of my earliest attempts. I just went with simplicity to give rigging a go so. That's why it has stubs for limbs basically. Also made out of prims.

I probably made her head and the one above it out of a prim (sphere). Which. Is. A horrible idea. For facial morphs. But these used textures so. It's somewhat passable.

I think this one ALSO used a sphere primitive as a base for the head. Not great.

I may have actually made a proper head for this iteration. All of these were fan art of an overseas UTAU, Kikyuune Aiko.

This was never used.

A jacket for a VY2 (Yuuma) model a friend was making.

I honestly don't remember making this monstrosity but here we are. It also looks horrendous. /shudders

2012

I did not make the hair, but everything else, yes. This one used texture based expressions as well. I don't like it at all.

I saw a chance to go absolutely nuts with a theme and ran with it. I still like the general idea, and maybe I'll try to execute it more effectively one day.

I made this in sculptris as a joke, and I love him. He is Mr. Orange.

This model was lost in a hard drive failure. Sad day. I recycled elements of this character design for ALLEGRO, who I made around 2013. Also one of the first to be modeled with actual subdivision.

Around this time I got a better handle on more reasonable topology. Especially regarding faces. This one in particular was inspired by the Project Diva games models and ままま式GUMI.

2013

This is when I properly learned how to UV Map textures. Which helped immensely.

This one was a gift for an UTAU user who was really cool. I did not make his hands though.

Back when everyone and their mom was going bonkers about Kemonone Row. He's still very popular and has a lot of good voicebanks. I never got this to a useable state though.

Probably the most finished and decent MMD model I've ever created. But his hair is ABYSMAL. The only reason he's as finished as he is is because friends assisted with rigging, weights, physics, etc. He is lacking proper .sph/.spa and toons. So he's not really up to par with current MMD models these days.

I still dabble in making a model about once a year, maybe. They're just so time intensive, and having to make ends meet doesn't really give me the same amount of free time I had as a tween/teen. I'm also just really lazy.
