Devlog #000 - _ready() (Patreon)
Content
So, actual coding. The stuff that makes the game actually go.
I have a humongous backlog of stuff to share with you.
That face is a farce. I'm actually screaming internally. There is too much to write about, and I don't want to detract from, you know, actually making the game.
I keep track of my coding progress and TO-DOs in a simple .txt file. It's nothing fancy, but honestly I prefer it that way.
On top of helping me organize what I need to do, my changelog is a great way to see the progress made. And since it's been over one and a half years, there's a lot of progress made.
This screenshot is also a lie. Since I first drafted this devlog, the file has grown to 4,266 lines.
Here's how I'll handle these more technical devlogs:
I'll either take a current, new chunk of changes from said changelog in a (+) positively-numbered devlog; or an older chunk of changes in a (-) negatively-numbered devlog.
I'll briefly talk about them, maybe show some screenshots, and describe how they affect the game.
I'll occasionally post a deeper, more technical dive about them that you can access with higher tiers if you're interested!
For example, I can totally see a post about how CE:ROM's sutures work being interesting.
On top of being able to track the game's development progress, you'll also get to see some behind-the-scenes content. (Probably more in higher tiers.) I have a sketchbook. I would like to show off said sketches from said book. (I would also like to pay rent.)
I hope you'll find these technical logs interesting!
Oh, speaking of higher tiers, what all would you want to see in them, by the way? Drop a comment and let me know! Also, if you'd like to help support the development of this game, there's the very real possibility I'll add game-related rewards! Think having your name in the credits, or even helping design and name a patient. Lemme know around how much you think would be fair for stuff like that!
And by the way, the CE:ROM demo releases on September 17! How exciting! I'm definitely not cramming in some last-minute features and polish, nope.
If you're around at AFC '25, you might even get to try an in-person floor demo version! With a Wiimote! That won't be terrible at all! (Just look for the doofus in the purple wizard hat, you can't miss it.)
